I have just now started a new 3d break-out game in darkbasic-lite.I intend to buy the DBP if I am successful in creating atleast 10 levels. But i face a problem in the first level itself.I have set the sync rate at 30.Initially i get about 20to 25 FPS.after some time, in the middle of the level the fps drops to 7 to 8 and the movement of both ball and paddle are very slow. How to rectify this problem.

It sounds like your computer is VERY slow. Either that or you are using some serious graphical effects. Maybe you need to upgrade your graphics drivers, post your computer specs so we can see what you are running this on.

Trying is the first step towards faliure.

What Geforce graphics card? It makes a whole lot of difference.

My first suggestions are go to the nvidia site and get the lastest graphics cards, and the lastest directx may help.

Do you mean you are using 20 sprites on screen? Sprites are VERY slow in DBC, i advise you to use 3D planes laid flat. The space invaders demo with DBC shows how to do that if you can't figure it out. In DBPro the sprites are much faster .

Mr. hamish,
I have just now installed the latest version of geforce(5.3) and tried the game, but still the same problem persists.Initially it starts with 30 fps and dops to 15 fps within 5mins.This happens only when the ball moves. When the ball stops it rises to 30 and drops again when the ball starts moving.again when i start firing bullets it drops to 7 or 8 fps.it rises to 10 to 12 when the bullet stops, but the ball is moving.it again reaches 30 when both the bullets and the ball stops. This is the situation. The number of graphics does not affect the fps as i tried without any graphics and still the problem remains.if you can figure out the problem help me.There are no sprites, only textures.

after trying all the ways to solve my slowing down problem I wanted to give a try at darkbasic pro.I downloaded the trial version and installed it.It gives satisfactory performance. Now there is no drop in fps.but the glitter and shine in the texture in db-lite is not found here.the images are dull. I am using jpg textures.
can any one tell me why this is so.
