you need to add some punctuation there it's not making much sense.

neway, from what I can gather, If you can make ff11 looking models you won't be asking this question, so go for something a bit more simpler and work your way up gradually, don;t go for something pro quality when you've only just started modeling,

the trick to good modeling is to draw some concept sketches at least one for the front and one for the side(generally what modelling program doesn't matter that much, just that some offer some special tools and functions-their all pretty much the same...), pace yourself, don't rush or cram, don't ADD more detail then you need, and spend as much time texturing as you would modelling...(I screwed up in the texturing bit, so don't you follow my mistake of cheap textures), over time you'll learn a few tricks to modelling, and develope your own style...

well, thats the style I developed over time... it's very similar to most other ppl

Squaresoft used Maya 5.0, Photoshop 8.0, RT/Shader 1.0 to create the effects that you see within Final Fantasy XI.

Alot of professional artists wish they could create artwork upto the standard of Squaresoft, I would suggest not setting your goals so high (as those guys are like the best in the business).

You best bet is to work on something to your own style model wise. Which just takes practise really; not matter the package.
However on the front of the effects ingame, alot of the game's graphical aptitude comes from 2 Shaders.

Field of Depth & Bloom/Overexposure...

I would like to see you prove my friend (Aki Kozu) wrong about this.
