You have to contact your own registration company/whatever in your country. Here in sweden it costs about 80 USD.

Tjenare, tackar =) No i don't use MSN. Go to www.prv.se there should be some forms to download/order. I got mine from the course I took in company management, I really recomend taking one if you're gonna start a company. Well, you can register the name before you start though.

I'd be careful about registering companies... startup to become official is cheap - however taxes and such arn't

just a warning (^_^)

Well, I don't know over there but over here you only have to tax on your company's wins. And regestering a company name isn't the same as regestering a company, though most comany forms needs a name you don't need a company to have a company name. That's how it works here =)

yeah i know ... i mean the point is though that you register the name like a .com address really - just so its on official records.
You then need to register the company to actually be able to legally retail ... well whatever you retail - lol
and you get taxed based on status, income and just for being a business.

There are alot of hidden costs which really need to be consider'd - its sad how many companies go under within the first year because these cost arnt thought about.

At least here in Sweden there is no costs exept income taxes for the most basic form of a company. Bigger companies needs to hire someone to go through the books making sure you don't break any rules. Other then that there are no special costs for having a company in Sweden. Insurance may be a good thing to invest in depending on what you do and once you start employing ppl it gets really messy. In Sweden you get paid the first 6 months and your company doesn't have to make any profit (if it's a simpler form) to stay alive (as long as someone pays the bills)

Congrats, and yes, DigAw does mean something, finally
Nice shots, do you figure you'll finish in time? I thought I would, but now I'm not so sure, DBP has gone and messed up my level loading! ARRG! (if I can get that fixed, it's sorta downhill from there I think... I've hired my brother for level design )

Well, now I need some dialog system, more models, animations, inventory, skills and battle mode, it's getting close. I'm not sure how/if I will tackle different resolutions.

Tack jättemycket DG . I think I will also take a class for company management, I wanna understand what I am going to do .
From my point of view, it's a great attitude of Dead Glory registrering a company name. It makes the game dev more serious and it's easier to get more qualified bubs to join the team if needed .

Just one more question Company Management, finns det på Komvux? Om ja, vad heter det? Företags ekonomi?

Thanks once again

A registered company name means that the name won't change. You can start a developement team with a name but you can't be sure you can use the exact same name when you start the company.

well thats probably explains a few things for me ...
Kydz Play (1986-1996)
Fubar Technologies Software (1996-1999)
Fubar Millennium Technologies (2000-2001)
Fubar Millennium Technology Labs (2001-2002)
Fubar Millennium Technology Advanced Utilities Labs LLC (2003)
+ Subsiduary Company - Raven Graphics Developments (2003)

even from the begining there's always been more than one employee - which as you've noted carries some messiness.
At the start technically were we're joint owners, but the setup ment we had to pay taxes like we were two employee's and not really managing directors.
Also probably didn't help that we started by collapsing my fathers business as he didn't want it any more - so he handed over the assets and we just collapsed it for our own needs

Not really until recently when government grants for small business really became worth it - but because of the setup we don't fall into the categories.

Each year when you update you can change the name if you wish - kinda like the official one you want to use - but you'll always be the original name on the governmental books.

DG, i'd suggest that you use temps for any work that needs done
They're not official employee's and if you don't pay them saves you alot of headaches. I've got 7 people here ... but thier all volentary - well with the exception of Brent which no ones met cause he's still my partner

For different resolutions its quite easi, because what you do if for HUD displays you make the resolution graphics - but for dialoug boxes and such you make them in a way that they're drawn realtime. Nothing fancy just gets the job done

Thank you again for being gentle DG. Jag gick idag till arbestsförmedligen, eftersom jag har inte jobbat i nästam 3 månader Det gick inte att plugga på Våren, men jag hoppas i August .

I thought it was a contest on RGT while DB official forums were down?

Could be mistaken though but then again, there shouldn't be any line drawn between the two communities.

I'm thinking of hireing through royalty contracts later. For TML and CCA2 I just buy the music I need from a really good tracker I know. Volenters would be cool =) I wonder how easy that is to get. I know a freelancing artist I may hire/buy from.

Thanks guys =) The multiplayer contest was 1 year ago before RGT even existed and DBP was still early in developement. It was an official DB contest announced by DBS themselves.

Vegeta:
Forgot, I never coded a HUD for many resolutions before. I may give it a go after the deadline cause ther's still 2 more months before the CD will go to print.

Yeah but it must've been on Madmerlins.com or Nmisoftware.com(both RGT's ancestors)...not the old Dark DB forums...Just needed to specify. ;P

there was a forum... CCA was long before the forums went down... wasn't it?

Anyway, phew! I get an extra month if I need. Now I have time to figure out why DBP returns results that are impossible from what I've coded...

I don't remember when the DB forums went down so I'm not sure. And it's 2 months extra, but you should have it at least fully playable in Jan.
