Im getting these weird lines on my screen. They tend to be only where there are graphics on that scan line. For example there is a light grey line horizontal cross the screen where a button is. I dont know how this happened. All I know is that my brother (6yrs) was on and when he got off it is like this. Restart doesent work. I have Windows ME and a NVidia Vanta.

No, print screen takes the graphics as they should be, before it is put on the screen. If i find my camera I could take a picture of the screen. It is not a problem with my monitor.

If a screenshot cannot capture the bad image then it's not your graphics card or drivers and *has* to be either your monitor or your monitor driver

Either from the monitor manufacturers site, or from driverguide: http://www.driverguide.com/

Doh! This is exactly what is going on with one of my monitors right now. I'd say it's a monitor thing, because it happens in DOS and Windows and Linux-- well everything, no matter what drivers are being used, and it only happens on one of my monitors. Basically the lines are darker on horizantal screen lines where there are more dark pixels. It's incredibly annoying but I've learned to live with it. Lesson learned: keep magnets away from monitors! (And little siblings.)

No, I just tried the monitor on an older computer. I tried reinstalling the drivers. I dont know what is wrong. It must be with the GFX Card. I feel like ripping it out. If I remove it from the device manager, will my computer still work?

I removed the graphics card, and now my computer boots in a horrendous 16 color 640x480 res. BUT THE LINES ARE STILL THERE. I have no idea what to do. Also, I cant reinstall the drivers because they "Havent been approved by microsoft". Any help please?

[edit]
I managed to reinstall my GFX Card, but the lines are still there. Its not a problem with the card or drivers. I also tried reinstalling the monitor driver, but that didnt work. Could the monitor work on an old (Win3.1) Computer, but not a newer one?

First, check the connection at the back of your PC to your graphics card. You may also want to make sure your card is securely in your motherboard. Try a different card, and if it still does the same thing, then something's wrong with your monitor.

[edit] You can still reinstall your drivers, just tell windows to ignore the stupid driver signing thing. (I find that one of the most annoying features with windows XP)

Check the monitor cable. If that dosen't work, the monitor's probaly busted ... no idea why it worked with the other computer though. You might try giving it a good knock on the side ? Helped mine, for a little bit, but it can't be good in the long run .
