I use paint as my drawing program, it pretty good, but it comes out really.... pixley. Is there a paint program that dosn't look so pixely? I know I can set my program to a higher pixle screen but most people's computers can't go past 640X480. plese help

In order to reduce pixelation its usually a case of image resolution.

72 dpi is all that is required for a final screen image.

When something is printed the res is counted on.
eg: 600 dpi

freeware dpending on the versions

*** pixia
****** canvas 6 ( not 3dc)
*** zoner draw
***** paint shop pro
** 20-20

Expensive Commercial

****** photoshop
****** Painter
***** Illustrator
*** AUra

btw

we can go way past 640 x 480 so thats an incorrect assessment there mate.
my current monitors are set at 1024 x 768

And my 19" Monitor is set 1280x1024. I like to use Deluxe Paint IV to draw pictures, but it is a pain to port them everytime from Amiga to PC. Unfortunaly the only paint prog on PC that is very good, is Deluxe Paint II, and it runs only in DOS mode. It´s time to write something like Deluxe Paint for Windows.
All the other progs for PC like Gimp, Photoshop, Paint shop pro are for retouching photos, not for drawing from scratch.

PC: AMD 1200/512 Mb SDR/GF2MX Dual Display/Win2000, 19" Monitor
ZX: Spectrum 128+ Customized version.
Current Project: BMP2SCR Pro (with LDIR)

I think if you look at the min. req. for DB Pro, you can assume anyone running a program made with it can set a res. much high then 640,480. I make all of my programs in 800,600 which is makes 16x16 image small on a 15in screen but the min. image size I use is 32x32 and I'm starting a 64x64 image collection to use. Also I think most people have at least a 17in screen anymore unless its a laptop.

Yup I've busted out the Dpaint2 here recently I love that damn program, It's the only art program I can really be productive with, I get what I want fast with dpaint, all these new prog's like ArtGem and others claim to be like dpaint but they aren't even close, not even a longshot man. The first thing I look for in those programs is a symmetry tool, none of them have one, that's just one example. blah blah blah blah sorry
