What would you like to see in a DB platforming game?

My ideas:
Difficult platforming bits with moving platforms
Vehicles for main character

How about level ideas as well?

I would like to see a platform game that really showed me what the word "platform game" means.

2D Platformer...

3D Platformer...

Many times they mean something, and many other times they are simply buzzwords.

Usually platformers expect a lot of tricky platform to platform jumping. Would be cool if there was a system implemented so you have to use a special "string" of jump tricks to reach another platform.

If you didn't catch my drift, I meant something like Klonoa.

I always liked Konamis platformers, with lots of guns and good enemies

Visit the Db chat room, ask me for details!.

I'll chip in if you give me some kind of evidence that this game will be finished.

Sorry, when I hear "everyone chip in" I automatically think "The MEGA Team!" and we all know where that went...

IMHO Bionic Commando was one of the best and original platformers. Got guns and robot arm thingy (does the vine thing). Good stuff.

Cannot remember the game, but there was another effort years ago that was basically your normal type platformer, but with very very small sprites. So basically you saw tonnes of stuff all on one screen (say 1/4 of the whole level). Class stuff.

Umm... and Kung Fu like out of the original Bruce Lee game. Tops.

Oooh, and some dual player co-op effort. But controlled by you. Think Head over Heels.

Cheers

I am 99% probably lying in bed right now... so don't blame me for crappy typing

I think an updated version of pitfall, but in full 3D would be sweet.

come to think of it, using physics to simulate the ropes would be pretty cool too

@Hzentch

I don't literally want other coders help, I'm just looking for a few suggestions to spark some good ideas. I'm a one man DB army.

P.S - I've finished every DB game I've started so far...

Me Loves PLatforming Games!! Something original would be nice not just plaforms, guns etc. Perhaps some sort of giant worm like emenies?? Or PLaforms that are sensitive to touch like glass whic can be smashed??

Just some ideas of the top of my head

I think a 2d style platformer viewed in 3d from behind like the original Crash Bandicoot would be cool to see in DB, often planned such a thing myself, just not got round to it yet.

A good Mario64 clone would be flippin brilliant, but the move set would be difficult to implement with collision in DB, because most collision engines don't like fully 360x360 rotation.

As for level ideas, well you can't go much wrong with the traditional platformer themes, minecarts, snow, beaches, lava etc. That said something original would be good to see.

Personally I wish more people made 320x240 "D sidescrolling games with well drawn graphics and well though out levels. Perhaps a Sonic Clone, with decent floor2wall physics
