Plus (and this is most important reason) you can then boast to your friends that you've got a personal website...

Personal websites are really good if you have something digital to share with the world.

I use my website to share:
* Pictures of my kids with other family members
* Freeware games that I have made with DarkBasic
* Songs that I have made

You could also use them to share poems, recipies, ideas, jokes, philosophy, etc.

Making money out of it ? is that all what you can think about ? Did you notice that there where games here, that were created and the developpers didn't get any money for it ? They made it for other reasons.

Why do people open blogs ? why do people do their dishes ? why do people mew the grass ? why do people get married ? I really hope it's not for money.

If I have a website, it's to share stuff, to let my things accessible all the time, so I don't have to send it through any instant messenger at specific times. It's all for the web-community (I know there is not much on the site), but anyone can take it if he wants to. I think Homepages and websites are there to share something.

Usually because they're delusional

Because they'd get sick and die if they didn't

Eeeurrgh?

Twuw wuv...

I think that personal sites are often completely pointless. Unless people have a good reason for going there, there's no reason to have them. I had a personal site for a short time to show off the textures I made as I was learning to use texture maker, and offer them for public use, but I'm not doing that any more, and have no site now .

Oh right I see (Coughs), so even though your family live too far to actually go out and meet them, and share pics, you wouldnt even use a personal site for that either then?

If no one in the world had a personal site, maybe to share intreasts, just thing, how boring the world would be!

Step back 15 years in time. You don't need a website to share personal interests.

Did you know that there were people at that time, who were sitting in their rooms, at the computer or reading books, and they rarely had social contacts ?

Now such people may have some contacts. They may be virtual, but they speak.

You'll surely tell me that normal people also fell into the gap since there is internet. I can't deny it.
