I'm working on an animation program, and cant figure out how to save keyframes. I know you can store them in a array, but I need a way to it so you can write them to an avi file or any other type animation file. Like povray.

Sounds like a fun project.

If you ever see Preston Chaderton around here, you'll want to talk to him as he's made a limb animation program for DBP.(or classic?)

Anyway, making an animation program is pretty tough. Storing the positions, rotation, etc. in an array sounds like a good idea to me. (like you mentioned )

I'm also curious on how to go about writing an array(or whatever) into say, .X format and then saving the model and playing the animation in another package (TS5.2 is my choice).

A book? I hate book. Book is stupid.

I tried (notice I said tried) to store the limb rotations in a array, then convert the rotations in the array into a memblock, then you simply put the memblocks in order, and there you go. The problem was I couldnt get the file back in the same speed and, well pretty much in the same piece, when you would play the animation the limbs would go everywhere. All the limbs were still glued, they were just all rotated in different directions. And I did try it in the .x format, and it did the same thing.

Save to an avi file? render the scene. The options are pretty straight forward.
