just in case some of you got this E-mail (it`s not a very clever scam but it may catch someone out), theres a bogus E-Mail that claims to come from Lloyds/TSB (complete with spelling/grammar mistakes ), asking you to log onto a bogus Lloyds/TSB website and enter your account details, needless to say it isn`t from Lloyds/TSB at all, and all you would get by replying is an empty bank account, be warned.

the realy interesting thing about this is that although I do bank with Lloyds/TSB I don`t have a online account, nor have I ever bought anything online, the only place they could have got my details from is my ISP (Freeserve/Wannadoo), so time for a nasty E-mail , if anyone has fallen for this, get in touch with Lloyds/TSB at once, or you might seriously regret it.

I've been receiving them for weeks, TSB, HSBC and Halifax seem to be the ones the scammers pick.

Just delete them.

They're everywhere.

I don't understand why they can't track back to the owner of the IP addresses being used.

We have the technology to hunt down students for downloading an MP3, but can't find the perpetrators of an online bank fraud?

BatVink: I think it has to do with the fact that many fraud scams like this are done by "professional" thieves, and know how to hide their tracks fairly well, now I don't know, I may be wrong. But does anyone know if the scam I received in my e-mail is widespread? It calimed that I should give my account details so a Nigerian can deposit 1/2 a million dollars in it?

Usually the most obvious giveaway, even in really good fake emails, is that they address you as "Dear Sir", "Dear <Service Name> User" etc.

Genuine emails almost always call you by name.
