does anyone else ever just have a time where they just cannot think of an idea for a game. i am working on a big project (see my sig) but i am awaiting media for it from my friends and can't do any further work on it. i therefore decided to make i small game like i used to love doing in my blitz days. but i just can't think of any good ideas for a game. i just sat there thinking but any idea i got wouldn't work or would be to hard to code. i wonder if this is just a phase that will pass or if this is permanent...

I'm usually the other way around.

Have all these great ideas but no time to do them. Although, they're mostly for applications not games. You'll think of something. Best way to get your mind brewing might be to make a classic. Start re-making astroids or something, but add a twist, perhaps in full 3D with different ships and ability to buy parts, etc. (and if you've got the skills multiplayer.)

A book? I hate book. Book is stupid.

Play some other games!

Download some shareware demos off the net, play them for a couple of hours and hopefully something will come to you.

I have a crapload of ideas, but I've got two things I want to work on right now, and I've got a kind of writer's block for code

Same prob here. Loads of ideas. Bought all the plugins. Bought all the tools. Got no time.

Hopefully the Retro Remakes Compo, which starts on 1st July, and a possible TGC summer compo will spark some enthusiasm.

I first started with very simple ideas, and then they grew bigger, and better. Now I probably have about twenty games in my head.

I always have cool ideas for the gameplay but I can never think up background stories to go with them.
