Ok, my first thread about this game was a bomb(Please delete it). I REALLY shouldn't have said that first. But anyway, My new game is called 10A, it's almost done(Maybe more levels and still waiting for greecee3 to finish music).

DOWNLOAD: http://webzoom.freewebs.com/fleaware/10a.zip

Enjoy

Ok, greecee3 has finished the music but it's not in there yet.

Strongly suggest you post some screen shots. I know that I personally don't download anything that doesn't have a screen shot.

Ok nice little demo, i put up some shots of your game for people to see nope you don't mind me doing so.

Several suggestion's that you might think about doing is on the ship selection screen maybe resizing some of the vehicles so that they all are equal sizes, and moving the placement down some into the empty space so they are not impaired by the grid and text. And the purple text is a bit hard to read i suggest you might change it to something more bold maybe red or something more easily visable. And noticed some of the collision on the side rails or walls seems to be pretty far off from the object. But really nice start could be a pretty cool game.

Ya, the hard part about that text color is that red just wouldn't go good because everything else is blue and the test would kinda look odd. But I'll try and find a good color. Just wondering could anyone beat it. I really can't think of how to make it have more levels but not make it impossible.

Acctualy I think I'll keep the collision boxes as is, when they're bigger it makes it fell more furturistic, like some sheild is holding you far from the wall. I tried yours but your Idea lets you see though walls, but I'll try and make it inbeetween.

O.k. i didn't want to throw my comments on this project because i know you do a lot of hard work on your projects. So don't take this too hard, it's from me There are some points i mentioned earlier in another post from the same project.

- What you miss is playability. The controls are not very good. I think they are really bad (sorry)! I can't control the ship with the mouse buttons and shoot at the same time. Why not also use cursor buttons for stupid ones like me ? Besides that, if i hold the mouse buttons the bullet stays in front of the ship. I played it for a couple of minutes and i didn't hit anything!
- Why is the camera fixed? If an enemy is behind the camera i never can see it coming. You really need the camera follow the player.
- Add health bars.
- The character on the left of the screen is too big, and dissapears when the annoying 'damage'-message appears. With healthbars and sound you should get rid of this screenfilling/flickering message.
- To make your game cooler you should add some sounds and eyecandy, lightfx, interactive background. People love eyecandy. I know i do!
- I like the explosion, maybe a little bit too big because where ever you are you are always in the middle of it and never see the actual effect.

Again, don't take it too hard. I'm known for my 'wrong choices of words' on forums which i get people offended with. Please go on with this project and make it something nice and sometimes you have to sacrifice ideas in favor of playability.

Yup, i'd have to agree.
Have the camera rotate with the player, get rid of the annoyin damage sign and fix the prob with both the player and enemy where the laser just stays in front of the ship if you hold down the fire button. Apart from that its not too bad.

The lazer is supposed to stay infront of the ship, like a big lightsaber. I'll make alturnante controls for the ship(arrow keys and control)

Manticore - Well, I have a lot more respect for you now that I can see you at least know how to code something (unlike so many people from the General Forums). I will definitely download this one tonight after work

NEW DEMO (FINAL SINGLE PLAYER DEMO)
http://webzoom.freewebs.com/fleaware/10a.zip
-Health bars
-Fixed up levels
-No more fashing "You Win" or "You Lose" screens

One question, would you pay for this game? If so how much? If not what does it need to be sellable? I might not even sell this, just want it to be as good as possible.

Also, could someone give me a hand with multiplayer, I don't know how to make the controls for both computers. And I can't exactly figure out how to connect the computers. I just need some example code.

OK, work's abit slow because it's summer vacation and I'm VERY busy siting on my ass and sleeping . But Here's a new screeny. I'm implementing traps now, such as warps and spikes. Here's a screen: How do you like the health bars.

Your scrrenshot was so dark and grainy that I could not make it out. The only thing easily visible was the bar at the top and the character. and they are very grainy as well.

How did you reduce your image size?

Wasting CPU Cycles since the 286 was a hot machine.

Yeah, It's a .gif that was converted using Paint. I took the pic in a dark area to make the health bars stick out more.

Paint? If you need a free, if difficult to use, image editor that can actually do something, google for a program called "Gimp". Its a tad daunting at first, but its pretty much a photoshop clone so you can do a lot with it. Like, say, converting .gifs to .jpgs and still having an image you can make out. Ok, sorry about that, didn't mean to pimp. Anyway, from what I can see in the screenie, the health bar looks pretty good.

I downloaded the game, and I think you're on the right I think you're on the right track, but at the moment its not too much fun to play. The controlls are a bit hard to use, as I think has been already mentioned, and this takes away a lot of the fun that might otherwise be had. Anyway, keep at it. Thats enough from me.
