go into your Darkbasic folder and there should be a file in there called xdarkedit.exe, thats what you want, you need to configure it to get it to work properly (it needs to be told where the compiler is etc)

Go to Edit>Options and make sure the path to DB.exe is correct--otherwise I dunno.

in the darkedit options heres the default program file path you would enter for XP

C:\Program Files\Dark Basic Software\Dark Basic\DB.exe

the html browser path
C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE

the help file path
C:\Program Files\Dark Basic Software\Dark Basic\help\main.htm

the default startup path
C:\Program Files\Dark Basic Software\Dark Basic

hope thats some help to you, cheers.

Codekeeper always looked cool to me. Though I never tried it because I received my DBpro package around that time. Does anyone use it? Are there any issues with it?

It reminds me of an Amiga editor my friend had.

--------------------------
Darkedit was a great find too. I probably would have stayed with DBC for a bit longer if I would have known about it. I worked with the included interface of DBC for a week, and then saw the DBpro editor, which was my main reason I switched to Pro (along with user defined types, and syntax highlighting, which Darkedit brings to DBC).

Until Pro arrived; and before I heard about darkedit; I actually resorted to typing my programs in a free text editor.

I would have upgraded to Pro at some point anyway, but I really never got the true value out of my DBC purchase. It's still nice to have both though. I still think that DBC is the way to go for 2D puzzle games, tile-based. I'm going through a lot of headaches trying to appease pros pickiness of 2D code.

Pvt Rakosi,
DarkEdit is just a text editor that has features like syntax highlighting, line numbering, extended syntax, step-through debugging, and a windows interface. You write the code in it, it saves the code to a temporary, hidden file that it then feeds to DarkBasic while at the same time running DB to execute your code.
