We got a topic on drums, so how about bass?
No, I don't play bass, just regular guitar myself. But who do you think the best bass player is?

Victor Wooten (awsome concert)
Les Claypool (great concert)
Jaco Pastorious (haven't seen, yet)

Les claypool hands down.

You will be a bass lover after going to a primus concert, and watching him play. Same with his Flying Frog Brigade... just f@#$@$% awesome.

Well, I'm not against the Bass guitar but I don't really like them.

Drums are a great responsibility... They aren't just for playing around with.

Geddy Lee (Rush) inspired Les Claypool. Geddy Lee gets my vote.

This one is pretty easy:

Paul McCarntney

In terms of impact he made on the music of the time with his songwriting AND bass playing, he probably will never be matched by any bass player ever. His bass playing gets overlooked because it's not as flashy as more modern styles of playing, and because it is overshadowed by the greatness of the songwriting of the group. But the creativity of his melodic, stream-of-conciousness bass lines still stand up and are second to none. Technically speaking the bass lines are pretty difficult and Paul was, technically, the best musician in the Beatles too. So, there you go!

I liked the "Talk Talk" bass player a lot (forgot his name). He had a very unique style and played impressive melodies/hooks rather than the usual stuff (speed doesn't always matter ).

Play Nice! Play Basic!
