I think this will be the 2nd model for which I've posted a screenshot. It's for a game that I'm getting scarily close to completing - and by "completing", I mean that I haven't given up after about an hour of toying with something.

I does seem kinda high on polies considering there's no detail of clothing, hands, feet, face, but I'm not on a tight polygon budget here. This will be the only animated character on screen at any time in the planned game. I suppose I could ditch an awful lot of polygons around the facial area - they aren't serving much purpose, but the fact that the head is large and round (that is intentional by the way) makes it difficult to lose polys.

Anyway, it's a cartoony style, so I don't want people complaining that his shoes are huge, or his head's round - that's the idea. I'm kinda stuck now for texturing. I'm really not looking forward to UVing or animating this bad boy.... any takers?

--- EDIT ----

Oh yeah, what do you think? Hehe, forgot to ask for opinions.

It's quite nice really, i like it
As you said the polycount could be cut down a slight bit, but the shape is good.Still, i think you should model him some proper hands, it'll look much better imo.
I might be able to unwrap it for you if you want.

I thought of doing that, but the character will end up being the size of one of these tiles in the game - so it might not be worth it. It's going to be scaled so far down, he won't need fingers

I don't think unwrapping is the problem. I'm suffering from a smoothing group issue when the model is imported into Unwrap3D, but that just takes a bit of time to sort out. My main problem is animation. I've never done "cartoony" animation before. Any tips?

Thanks That means a lot to me, coming from you guys, as I know you both can model.

Oh, incase you didn't know, that's supposed to be a hard-hat (from a construction site) on his head. I couldn't be bothered doing hair, so I figured having a hard-hat bobbing up and down oh his head when walking would add to the cartoon-like game I'm making.

Thanks for the comments

The shoes are too big, and the head is rather large and round.

Looks really cool.

I didn't read the last sentence for a couple of seconds then. I was about to flip out before I realised that your comments sounded a little familiar to me ...
