I've heard good things and bad things about the 700 page DB book, but for a newbie does it help?
I can do a few very, very simple things with the trial version.

Should i get it?

It is probably geared towards your level of expertise. If you have programmed in other languages, it would be a waste.

Well, my book is for all levels, around 600 pages when finished, it is geared for beginners but not for beginners to programming, and is more so aimed at the Intermediate level coders.

The book is definately a waste of money, at least for me it was. All of the chapters [except one] cover the commands, which is totally pointless because those commands are covered good enough in the help documentation provided with DBP which is a lot more to-the-point and easier to find your way around. The last (or the one before the last) chapter in the book is a REAL-WORLD demonstration of using the commands together to produce a working game, but this tutorial is already on this website if I am not mistaken, I know it's on the internet because I had seen it before. Everything you'll find in that giant book full of babbling and a price tag can be found online for free which is to-the-point and can be put on a floppy disk. Don't waste your money on the book.

Wooly: What book are you referring to? Could you provide a link to where I can see something about the book (like sample chapters or what it covers)?

Megamanx, you clearly don't know what your talking about, maybe you didn't understand it because you clearly didn't understand what you wrote.

John "Dark Lord of Angel Destroying Destiny" Pringlebee, maybe?
