Hello, All

Does anybody know where to find Texture Baking software that can render or pre-render shaders/lightmapping etc. effects into textures and then UV Map onto models of any type. I know most modelers and renderers have plugins, but I'm looking for a standalone program.
Appreciate any feedback.

Thank You!!!

One more thing.
With Texture Baking, can it keep the same rendering effects when imported into DB/DBPRO? Because from my understanding it changes and/or enhances the texture, and it should remain the same when imported into a game engine wouldn't it?

Thanks!!!

giles is on this site to purchase. It does light maps and allows you to paint on the model in 3d.

I think blender can do it now too... not sure.

What are you looking to bake a texture for? Gile[s] is good for levels but wouldn't work well for things like vehicles becuase it generates and uses a second set of UV cords.

What modelling program are you using? If its max5 then you can use an excellent texture baking program called bakersfield. Its quite a bit better than the built in texture baking as it doesnt alter your UVs.

Of course there are plug-ins for texture baking with 3ds Max but...
You can simulate it with good lighting techniques, and it will render in a fraction of the time.
Spend the time learning quality lighting and will take you a long way.

guyon: what are "good lighting techniques"?. you talking about hand painting the lighting or good ingame dynamic lighting? Render in a fraction of the time? what are you on about?

Looking to bake a texture for a human, and any type of 3D model etc.

I'm currently using Milkshape 3d and Wings, so basically like I said before I need a standalone Texture Baking program.
I already have Giles, which I must say is a good program!! mainly for lighting game levels(worlds).

All in all I'm trying to bake textures for models, not just game worlds(levels).
