I've been itching to make my own game for a while, and I think I wanna do it with DarkBASIC. 'Course, I don't have all the details for my game fleshed out yet, so I figured this would help my decision. Are first-person shooters (think Doom or Halo) possible with Dark Basic? And if so, how would one go about making that perspective?

Thanks in advance.

yes, it's possible.

It's easier than third person shooters, 'cos you don't need a good looking primary model, and work out how to follow - you just use the camera.

You might want to hang on for the FPS maker if you're not already familiar with darkbasic...there is a reasonable learning curve with DB before you'll be making a decent game.

I dunno, I was kinda looking at The 3d Game Maker because it has a 'just add water' FPS bit to it, but I wanna learn DarkBASIC so I can do more games after this. This idea has been brewing in my head for awhile now, but after I finish my FPS I'd like to move on to other things.

Ok, first of all, darkBasic can do practically anything. Anything from a full fleshed MMORPG to a racing game.

John "Dark Lord of Angel Destroying Destiny" Pringlebee, maybe?

I disagree. As unfortunate as it is, DB has its limits.

If your a beginner, do not expect an FPS like Doom or Halo.

Our team is making an FPS right now with DarkBasic Classic. You can check out what we've gotten done so far.

Yeah, FPS games are possible, but they take a lot of work.
