Free private email? What the bloody hell is that? If you mean something that isn't one of the free email services (yahoo, hotmail, msn, etc) then it's going to be hard to find one free. I have one free, 10mb of space, spam+virus protection. How did I get it? I have connections . Except I never use it because the website it's at is an underground hacking site . Don't want any bad impressions.
Anyways I'm done babbling now.

You can't just "do" SMTP. You need a server and it has to be on a decent connection if you want to use it in real-life situations. And you must be fairly adept at server configuration, etc. I've set one up for my old company in the past using I-Mail, but that was around $700US for a dinky license.

So you mean you have a domain name, like www.IneedHelp.com and you just need some hosting?

Hey, I've got an idea. Why not just use the email address that you registered here with?

There's also a book that you can get to help you out : http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/0764541730/qid=1087721924/sr=2-2/ref=sr_2_11_2/202-4242419-4639026

I think that's about it on this subject
