2D All the way! / drawing buttons (need help)

k i'm in the middle of making a 2d platform-esque game and want to know how to make buttons to choose equipment,characters and such
-is there a quick way rather than setting perimimeters for the mouse??
any help is much app. thnx

Apart from setting Mouse zones there is Sprite Collision. Make a single pixel sprite and make it follow the mouse movements..

Sprite SpriteNo,Mousex(), Mousey(), ImageNo

Then make a button sprite.

Then check for collision during the mouse click.
