Hello. I am Richard deCosta, composer and artistic director at Turing Opera Workshop. I am in need of a DBPro programmer. I have an upcoming performance tour of my opera "K'ai, Death of Dreams" starting in July, and I need a puppetry system built. The opera is going to be performed with 3d puppets in DBPro (among other programs). You can see and hear the current state of the project here: http://www.richarddecosta.com/KaiOpera. This project has been featured at AnimWatch.com and is being featured in an upcoming issue of 3D World Magazine.

So far, everyone involved in the project is a volunteer, including me.

I have a reporter coming a week from Friday to get an advanced look at things, and I would love to have a playable puppet ready for him. I'd do it myself if I had time, so help, please!

Regards,
Richard deCosta

1) July begins in a few days - why would you ask this so late in the game

2) This should be posted in the team requests forum

I have posted it in that forum. My appologies for the resulting cross post. Its late in the game because our Unreal puppet system did not pan out, for technical and liscensing reasons.

There are a few users here messing around with complex ragdoll systems - but that's what you need really, you need a ragdoll with controls .

Check out Wolf's ragdoll demo in the program announcements section, it's really good fun and you'll know what I mean when you play around with it.

Great idea Van B! Unfortunately, I think Wolf has stopped development on the Tokamak wrapper and is working on a new system. Walaber's ragdolls using the Newton library would be the best bet in the shortest amount of time.

I can envision using ragdolls with a Ragdoll Kung-fu type of controls for use as a puppetry system. At this moment, I think Walaber is the only one that could pull it off on such short notice.

Richard, I suggest stopping by the Program Announcements section and reading the last few pages of the Newton thread.
