A while ago my AIM account got hacked, so i changed the password. About 2 days later, the hacker signed back on! How is this? He must be using illegal hacking tools. Is there a way to stop him from hacking? Thanks

More then likely he/she is just using a keylogger, or a basic trojan, you should scan you comp for those things first then get a decent registry cleaner to seek out the shoddy keys that should stop him. If all else fails theres always the dreaded reformat.

There's a free online spyware scanner for you. When the window pops up to download, say 'yes' and then wait. You might be surprised at what you find.

Then you might want to consider downloading Spybot: Search & Destroy or Ad-aware. Not sure of the exact URLs but you might run a search on Google.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

And there's brute force crackers that find your password if it's a common word, ie. Dog, Cat, John, Cool. You should make your password a mixture of numbers, letters and captials and non-capitals, ie. 1dOg3, C54t, JOHn23, but even those can be found quite easily. Longer passwords are generally better: Rh23A6syU34

But then there's the issue of remembering it.

Probably use AIMThief. That, or you're paranoid.
AIMThief won't work on accounts with sn's larger than 10 characters supposedly. And how do you know he's signing on to it when you're on?

Uh, no, he doesn't have to hack your account to do that; if your computer doesn't have a firewall, it could be placed on your computer at any time when you're online. If you do, it could be from any untrustworthy website or piece of software.

Get Spybot: Search & Destroy and remove it. It could be sending *anything* on your computer to *anyone* and is probaly logging everything you type too.

Skier Demon,

Are you saying that none of those programs did the trick?

Try downloading ZoneAlarm --

http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/company/products/znalm/freeDownload.jsp?lid=zaskulist_download

What this is, is an Internet Firewall that only allows certain programs that require the internet to run. These programs are specified SPECIFICALLY by you. I recommend you talk to your parents (assuming you're a kid) and get them to look at it.

Later.

Why are you all saying he's hacked into his computer? The guy who's doing this doesn't have to be on his computer. You can sign in as anybody from any AIM client, right? As long as you have the password? If he somehow gets your password, he can see your client list that way, right? Doesn't mean your computer has been hacked :p This isn't Hollywood, guys!

Quote: "8. Maybe even spyed on my computer files (How else did he get EVERY single account i have on my computer?!)"

What accounts? Your friend's accounts? That would show up in your friends list, right? He could get access to that from any AIM client, right? I'm assuming all this because I've never used AIM, but I use MSN and Yahoo regularly.

Didnt work. (I got a firewall)

FIrewalls only protect sertant programs from runnin using the internet or connecting to the internet. He can be doing all this on his on cpu without having anything to do with mine (jsut like from anywhere in the world, u can sign on to anyones AOL account). 2. my parents cant really do much about it (im not a little kid) Owell...

So, should i call the FBI hotline (the one for comptuer hackers and such)? Or if not, wa should i do?

Someone needs to freshen up on his computer literacy.

Just because you suspect a hacker doesn't mean that EVERY negative thing that happens to you is the result of him or her.

Okok... this may be the last time i EVER talk on this board for a while. I have VERY little time till he comes back. In quick words, my cpu was hacked. And im 100% sure it was the the hacker. My friend and i were both AIM hacked by the same hacker and now both of use are having teh same cpu problems. WHat are the chances? AAnywayz, it all started when i couldnt get on the internet, but it said i was using the internet. I got a firewall and then saw all my programs conencting to the internet. I saw AIM twice saying that two different IPs were connecting to this application. The hacker is remotely hijacking my files. I have very little time till he destroys my computer. Hes already started. When i turn on my computer, it freezes for like 5 minutes. Also, i think im getting A LOT of viruses. this JSUt started happenening. WHat to do????? I know it sounds like i worry to much and that its stupid that i think hes gona destroy my computer, but ive had bad experences with people hacking me

P.S. HZence , yah it does. I have proof it was him. I see some hacker's IP using like half my internet apps ^ ^ ^ ! LOL...

Ok.. well, i fixed the problem. He somehow (the hacker) (im still now sure how) gave me a virus that tracks every single thing i tpye in and then via email gives it to him. Thtas how he got every single password i have on my AIM software. That might also be why every time i typed something in a textbox and hit enter it said "This info might viewed by someone else" or something like that. He also gave me a virus that disabled my internet (jsut fixed that like 10 minutes ago) and conencted my to porn sites... Grrrr. Anywyaz, hes a stupid freak. Why disable my internet and then try to connect me to some nasty sites? Im not saying i like those kinda sites (i dont), but isn't that stupid of him? Wow... oyah, and also... i know who it is! MUAHAHHAHAHA!!!!

That little... (The following cant be viewed due to consored words that were used)... LOL, jsut kidding.

Woa... jsut when i thought it was over, guess what happenes? I have a whole nother problem now. He was changing my IP every time i loged on to my computer. It said "Now autosetting IP..." and then it was the same every time so he could connect. But today i look at my IP and it says (probably cause that liitle freak is gone) that i leased a new IP from the DHCP and that it expires tomorrow? WHats the DHCP and when it expires, will my internet be shut down again? Thanks!

Well, I get the feeling there are some hackers running rampant. My firewall is intercepting inbound access attempts every 5 minutes, and I'm on dial-up, so I have a dynamic IP. So there must be some bots at work, port scanning loads of IPs.

Ok... FOr all of you people who also got their AOL accounts hacked, im gona tell you how to fix it. First of all, i gave my computer to my friend whos a genuis with computers and he told me whats so screwed up with my computer. Second... I think its hacking season. LOL. Anywayz, heres a how fix it:

1. Reset your password. If that doesnt work and he still gets in, then do number 2.
2. make sure your firewall is up and running. If you dont have one, get one. If that doesnt help, go to 3.
3. Scan your computer for viruses. My computer so far (currently) has 17 viruses that i think are called 04. or something. They are ALL AIM viruses that transmit your pass to an email (the hackers email). So, all a hacker has to do is log onto a warez site, get a AIM virus givving program, and BOOM, ur account is gona probably get hacked if he gives it to you.. Now, how to fix it? GO into safe mode, do a virus scan with your best virus scanning program you own,and if you find it... Go into the folder that holds it and either disable it (by deleting that data file it holds) or delete that folder. Now its still a mystery how that freak got the virus past my filewall, but owell... As long as that MORON stops, its fine with me

P.S. I know who that freak hacker is that hacked my account... Hes my friend's friend. How does a um... how old is he? I think around 13 years old or something... how does he know how to do that?!?!?!? LOL

Hmmm... Yes, its hacking season. You should get a port scanning program and see all your ports. There are bad ports out there like port 5000 that gives you bad stuff. I have that port... GRRRR. Also, hmm... jsut wondering. Would it be possable to make a port scanning program with DarkBasic Porfessional? Tha would be funny BEtter yet, a virus scanning program. lol. That would be hard.

P.S. I HATE AOL!!!!!!!!!! I'd get rid of stupid program if not ALL of my friends used it.. GRRRRRRRRR. LOL.

I reckon your secret question is something obviouse. my m8 used to hack alot of my freinds because they used obviouse questions like date of birth, mums name ect. very easy to get hold of. then when you least expect it they get your password sent to there email account. then they have your password and your user name sign in then do some cyber terrorism then go. seems all so simple and if you change your password they just do the same process to find your new one. if this dosent work then format your comp. go out buy a decent firewall or use the xp one.

Any spelling mistakes are totally In tensional.

Click on security scan. The results will show you which ports are open, closed, or stealth. If at all possible, you want them all to be stealth (except a few, like the http port)

Problem. Is there some kind of program that allows hackers to break into a computer using the AIM direct Connect? Sometimes a buddy of mine pops up with a direct connect window and directly under it, it says the buddy cancels his request. I noticed my connection was extremely slow(and he happened to be online also), so I called cablevision and they reset my line. it was still slow and the costomer support woman told me to check to see if there is any spyware or p2p running. I closed everything and nothing worked. Then I decided to close AIM, and suprise: my internet connection speed went back to normal.
So what im doing now is running netstat from the cmd line to see if he tries to connect again and from what port. I am saving it to a text file that i'll check every once in a while. Once I find the port and his tcp information, what can I do with it to get back at him or at least stop him?

The hacker's gone now. Now hes on to computer hacking Every once in a while it says Help Assistant has logged on to my computer. Weird. Anywayz, i try to help you with your problem.

So basicly your saying someone u know is opening a direct IM connection? Hmmmm. It may be that AIM software (when you direct connection) slows down your internet. Im gona test that idea. Also, it may be that he/she is using some kind of AIM hacking thing (just a guess). Id i were u, i'd ask ur friend about it.
