For the past several months I have been working on my own operating system, to fit my needs and I would like to share it with you. This has been a long project and its going to be a lot longer then it already has been.

So far what I have completed:

I have a fully functional taskbar which only has a few items on it.
The OS has its own paint program, And Word Program with 10 different fonts
Currently cannot save any documents ATM
You can pick between 4 different backgrounds right now.
And since it was made in Dark basic, I have added an IDE to write code in, but cannot compile.
It also has an internet access but only goes to the darkbasic website so thats the only site you can browse ATM

I have to say that is looking mighty impressive. I can see it now.. "New DB OS hits stores 2050" . Just kidding. That sure is a lot you've done so far though.

But one thing is I can't tell what those icons on the toolbar represent. I'm not really an undead fanatic.. or whatever.. but those don't make any sense to me (it's midnight and I've had a long day).

Anyways good luck and keep up the good work, I hope to see this finished some day .

Yes moonshine I know that, but for now I just have it in my startup so my computer brings it up automatically so I only have to look at windows for a sec. but later im going to transfer it into an another language.

About the icons, here is a screeny showing what each icon is. And I changed the background to a much relaxing tone. But I thought the eye looked pretty cool. But at the moment there are only 4 backgrounds

hmmm, demo thats going to be awhile. here is a list of things im going to try to get working before i release a demo.

saving things
internet
more backgrounds
at least 2 more themes rather then just the same 4 icons
a interractive buddy to show you around the place (optional)
getting the darkbasic IDE to complie inside the OS
and getting the os to read the cd/dvd-rom and floppy drives

thats just about every thing i am going to get to work before i release a demo. Planning on releaseing a demo around august so its going to be awhile might put together a movie so i can show you around.

BTW i just wanted you to know that im using the OS right know. so im using it to write this messege

SO this is more of a shell replacement?

It'd be nice to see it interface with windows and display a list of open programs, like the Explorer shall interface (the default windows one)

i made a unix like version of an OS ages ago in DBC, unfortunately it would only be akin to something like xtree gold or a file browser compared to a real OS.

If no-one gives your an answer to a question you have asked, consider:- Is your question clear.- Did you ask nicely.- Are you showing any effort to solve the problem yourself

db does needs windows to run but you could get windows to start it every time your computer turns on.
