I've got myself a NEC2510 OEM DVD burner. Nero doesn't recognise it as a writer, although Windows is quite happy to use it as a DVD reader.

Any ideas on how I fix this? I've searched Google for drivers, can't find anything relevant.

What OS are you running and depending on the chipset you may have to update the drive's firmware. Also is it the full version of nero or a version that came with another drive? The nero that came with my drive doesn't like other drives but the full version works with both of my drives. Hope this helps and good luck.

What version of Nero have you got? I have Nero 6 and it picks up the DVD drive. You might have to switch to expert mode in the options and then in the top right corner of the start window you can select DVD or CD.

Same as lost in thought - Nero that comes bundled with drives is usually modified to only work with that drive. Full version bought in shops works with any drive.

Sounds like Nero is the prob - it's an OEM version that came with my last PC - which didn't have a writer in it!

I shall find some other burning s/ware and see what happens.

Thanks guys!
