Here are two programs that I have got that I find really really useful for windows.

FireFox : a free, web browser that is very resitant to hackers, viruses, pop-ups etc. Great for Window's vulnerability(spelling?) to viruses.
www.mozilla.org

Spy Sweeper : Viruse, ad, spyware etc.. remover, free download but 20$ for subscrition to viruse definitions(optional)
www.webroot.com

add your own if you want.

Just a tip, I got Norton Antivirus 2004 and it SUCKS! Do not pay money for that program. Sure it finds the viruses but it can't do jack about them.

Am I an Idiot...or is everyone else just really smart?

Norton AntiVirus 2003 works fine for me, I actually download viruses off the internet on purpose a few times, and once the download was complete it automatically gave me a warning and deleted the file.

FireFox I agree with though, I'm using it now.

Games: Quake 3, Unreal Tourney 2004, Trainz 2004.

Why would you buy that when the standard one is so "feature-packed"!! lol.

Yeah, standard edition always works a charm for me. And that bug where horizantal scrolling never goes down after it's been pushed up doesn't bother me at ALL. I mean, they've only had a decade to fix it. Not their falt. Nooooooo.

If it happens in Notepad I expect it affects just about every other app using an EDIT control as well, in which case there is probably a reason why it hasn't been fixed (performance?)

Wouldn't know... I just personally find it obscene that that particular bug (or bad feature?) is still around, and has been since Windows 95.

I wouldn't have neede Spy Sweeper if it wasn't for Mozilla/FireFox' total inability to stop mallicious script.
Sorry but Windows XP SP2 does a FAR FAR FAR better job of blocking than any 3rd Party program.

And don't get fooled into believeing that it is faster than IE either; they just load differently. IE is much faster at loading the entire document, FireFox simply does it incrementally so it appears to be faster.

I use Norton Anti-Virus 2004 Enterprise, catches/quarenteens and deletes everything. If yours doesn't then update it using LiveUpdate!

I use Notepad for alot of quick documents and asm programming, i've never had this bug on ANY of the Windows Operating Systems.

There is obviously no difference in the speed the data is sent, but that's not what matters, what matters is how fast you can browse. Firefox displays pages considerably faster than IE, both because it displays more while the page is still loading-- which is a great benefit-- and because I believe it parses the data faster.

I'll just put this down as your guardian angel making sure Windows doesn't have any problems with you... you're not only the only person I've ever heard of who has never encountered this problem, you're the only person who has never had trouble with Windows ME. So I guess you're under some kind of divine protection
