what does 'binding screens' mean?

It is the option screen in many games so you can assign a joystick or keyboard control to say you want to have the spacekey to have your charector jump you then go to the options screen and configure it from there , I might have used a too adanced word for it I shoauld have problably said options screen

I would suggest learning how to write to an ini file and saving the configuration to it.

i think you misunderstand... an ini file is just a text file. Go on, try making your own binding screen in Notepad

Seriously, you should have a load of code saying stuff like:

If user has clicked on 'set key' button next to jump then wait for user to press key and find out what key user has pressed
<repeat for all other 'set key' buttons next to various actions>
open a text file and save it all down somehow.

So....... work it out. Basically.

I see OK I started to do it but I am in a a bit of a muddle at the moment
