Newcomers DBPro Corner / 3ds and dbpro 5.4 do they load or not

can you load 3DS object in dbpro 5.4 or do you have to convert them.

It works for me in U5.4, it is just very very picky about which files it will load. Some will load fine, some will crash the program, some take an age to load and others work. I have no trouble loading simple models exported to 3ds from wings3d.

Why can't you convert from .3ds to .dbo then load? Or is there something lost in the conversion?

yes I use it all the time but mainly with .x objects. it is supposed to work with .3ds as well though.

Robk wrote one but it uses a hidden save object function in one of the dbpro dlls

Hrm good point but it has worked with all of my models. Of course all of them load ok in the native formats too.
[edit] Does gile[s] import .3ds?
