I was playing around a bit with shader fx files. And i really think this is going somewhere. Easy shiny objects and stuff. But... i read the shaderfx thread and was discouraged. Aren't there any 'ready to use' shaders for DBPro? If there are i would like to download them or arent those things for free? I adjusted the bubble.fx a little wich came with DBPro and found a Mandelbrot.fx.
As most of you know i'm working on a car/racing-game so a nice metallic shader would be nice.

Anyone?

@Dennuz666 v2

"Aren't there any 'ready to use' shaders for DBPro?"

Depends on what you mean by 'ready to use'. There are quite a few shaders that can easily be modified to work in dbpro. All that is required is that you set the appropriate constants and change any instance of "Resource" to "name".

However, as of U5.4 we still can't get procedural textures to work as support for them is not coded in.

I could help you get a "nice metallic shader" up and running in DBPro, but I'd need to know what graphics card you have first. All of the metallic shaders that I know of require VS 2.0 at minimum so older hardware will not be able to run them.

Well, there's a couple of ASM metallic shaders in RenderMonkey that only need VS 1.1 and PS 1.4. Of course, being in RenderMonkey, they aren't easy to get into DBPro...

I fiddled around a bit with the bubble.fx file that came with dbpro. It's pretty cool. But it stays a bit transparant. I have a already textured car wich i want to give a smooth look. If you could create me a file would be really .

I have a ATI Radeon 9600 PRO card wich is 2.0 / 2.1 (wild guess)?

For backward compatabilty i can check if a card can handle shaders, i can do that can't i?

Well, usually, I would help you. The problem is, the RenderMonkey samples use cubemaps, which I don't know how to use yet. If you can wait long enough, then I'm sure I can convert them into .FX files so DB can use them, but it might take a couple of weeks!
