Hey Iam posting this here because more DBspot users here...Ok my question is how do I get and make my website up? I have my domain ready but what do I need to make the website with and once thats done how do I set it up?

I use Dreamweaver to make websites, but you could also use MS Frontpage or learn HTML and code using notepad. To upload them you'll have to learn how to use an FTP client like http://www.smartftp.com/ or http://www.cuteftp.com/

[Edit] Argh, I take too long to type up posts, gotta try and not get sidetracked by the TV -_-

All one needs to make a webpage in is notepad. For images, MS Pain(t).

To upload your website to DB Spot, you need an FTP, such as SmartFTP (google for it).

If you want to you a click and drag program (well, more or less click and drag) then you can try MS Frontpage or Dreamweaver (both cost money, haven't found a single free one). If you want a better painting tool, and don't want to pay for one, try Gimp.

name it INDEX.html
the site will automattically redirect it to that, use that as the index to guide people thru the rest of the site :p

Either will work on dbspot. As well as index.php, also I believe default.htm/html/php works

The best route is to have a full copy of your website on your hard disk and edit that - then upload the pages once your happy, but really your FTP program is for transferring files, once you transfer your website images, zips, and HTM files you'll be able to test it online.

Have a look for PSP3.1 too, a real early version of Paint Shop Pro, not huge functionality but it pees all over Paint, and I'd rather use it than Gimp. If you can't find it - I could email it to you (it's a demo, but not restricted in any way).

I always use .htm. Some sites insist on .html. No difference.

The only difference is early unix servers used .html, while early microsoft servers used .htm as they were limited to 3-letter file extensions.

Get 15 new commands, all the date / time commands left out of DBPro for free!

Ok Ive done a good amount of HTML so far on my comp but now comes the question of how to get a certain layout



How do I get it so that the links are on the left side but dont interfere the position of the rest of the stuff?

ok ive got everything done now...woot... now it just leaves me with the ONEKA icon... how do I make it so that the white part is transparent? with adobe or paint

Well if you make the white transparent,part of your text(highlights)will be lost too.

Use Screen blending and change the colour to white.
