It depends on the complexity of both. Generally, though, an RPG is harder to make than an FPS.

Your both right, An FPS would require alot more AI to make a worthy enemy, while an RPG would be alot more complex and dinamic, RPG consists of large worlds, storyline, characters, an array of items and enemies. So I think an RPG would be harder to make... and thats why im making one...

Hmmm, that's probably true, but for a good RPG you're going to need a lot of design, a huge amount of art, etc., whereas an FPS can get away with less of these. I guess each one can be harder than the other, depending on the complexity.

EDIT: And someone got to the post before me and essentially said what I did...I must be a slow typer.

HA! BEAT YOU!

And yeah, you have no idea the amount of media it takes to make a decent RPG. Imma need several dozen models and not to mention sound and grahics, right now I have cubes for characters!

cause im 1334 like that

yes, i agree with everyone else. Depending on the level of complexity, either one can be extremely difficult.

however, i would have to say an FPS is easier, because you can make a simple FPS, and have it be rather decent. However, you can't really make a simple RPG, and have it be really good.

I think a FPS is harder on the technical front (AI etc), but an RPG is harder on the planning and organisation front. But definitly RPGs are much harder overall.

K well in an FPS ou can move in all directions and requires good collision. I cant seem to get it. I cant get NG to work so dont ask about that. I just thought rpg would be easier on the phisics part.

well it really matter on what kind of FPS or rpg you make....like you could make a RPG like Final Fantasy Tactics which requires no collision but one like FF7 would

anything above 5.5 is good.
as for the sizes, never use figures like 300x300. Those suck a lot when it comes to games. A) they will take extra memory b) the mipmapping will be messed up.
So either use 256x256 or 512x512 as an alternative for the 300x300.

as for mmorpg being harder to create than rpg - that's a load of BS. All you need to know is how to make the networking fast and stable enough. Just think about it - you can forget all about NPC AI and complex game as most mmorpg's are just hack 'n' slash anyway.

i imagine an rpg would be harder, since they normally contain FPS mode, and you have to come up with a story line for the game too. (thats the hardest part)

i would say that a fps is a lot easier than rpg, im currently making a fps and its my first ever project, its also realy easy to add to fps games without much fuss.
