Actually, most downloads will simply be a Nero or Diskjuggler ISO - or even a self-boot inducer, which means you won't need a boot disk (yay!) - you'd just load the iso into Nero and burn away. When you need to burn rom files to a disk, each emu will have a rom disk template, usually for Nero at least - you just download and load the template into Nero, then drop your roms in the appropriate place before burning the CD. DreamSPEC is a little limited because you need to do some hacking to get a game to work properly - but the emu comes with 200 legal spectrum games, incl Manic, Skool Daze, Bounty Bob, Scrabble etc etc - making it a very worthwhile DC download.

Acctually there were a few more than just SEGA, Nazca's Metal Slug(only the BEST 2-d Game Ever) was released on the Dreamcast, ofcourse after it was released on the NEO*GEO.

As far as I know, it's OpenGL.
Though, since it's based on WindowsCE I wouldn't be surprised if they
did have some custom DX.
I bought my DC after sega stopped producing it. Brand new too. Cost
me $50 and all the games were about $3. I love this system.

Killswitch pointed a guy to some free console dev kits linked here, where are they?

For consoles.............I think gamecube's got the most interesting games because Nintendo's obsessed with reinventing everything, but Xbox has the best hardware. I'm with Van B on the controllers. When they stopped producing the original Xbox controllers I figured I'd be screwed with these mondo hands o' mine. The controller S just hurts, GC makes you feel like your hands are getting squished, and I can't even figure out how to grip a PS controller comfortably.

The Xbox controller reminds me of the Dreamcast one, though. Dreamcast was great.

the dreamcast runs on windows ce. every disc HAS windows CE on the disk and that is the OS. so it is theoretically very easy to program the dreamcast.

Erm, no they don't. Windows CE is in the DC.
That's why the Chankast emulator needs the DC bios to run anything.
If they had to put windows in EVERY disk, then people would be able
to make their games run without it. Have you ever heard of a DC
game that doesn't use windows?
People would be able to use a linux shell. Theoretically, it is posible to run a game with a linux shell, but the linux will be running in a windows shell. Not much of a point to it.
