Yabdoze or something.

The yaroze was cool, buht TOTALLY expensive. £500 or something... took me like 3months to save up.

you might find the sdk online cause it was made in C, you'd code in C then you'd play it on your Playstation (which was a snazzy black) using an LPT lead (printer cable from the days of yaw) ... once you were happy you'd then compile and burn to CD. You could play games by using a special 'boot' CD

you can buy a lynx kit for ps2 costs about £200, but you won't have as much power as the professional companies do.

If i were you stick with the PC its far easier to distribute your work and show off!

Lack of experience and i'd wager large cash sums that your not using the hyper-simplistic Visual C++

might help to understand the language as well

I think i had the same problem, from what i remember theres a spelling mistake in the help files, the include(header?) file is spelt wrong so the program won't compile.

Dev-C++ is just an IDE you have to download a compiler seperate, the one recommended on the site is DJGPP.
Personally I prefer Mingw + Mingw Developer Studio

I don't think that it's legal so long as you don't sell the game.

EDIT: I meant to say 'legal' not 'illegal' if you read this earlier.

Its basically linux on the PS2, so its not really developing for the ps2 its developing on the ps2 for linux. Also that simple basic language is called yabasic, that is no good what so ever if you want to create something like you would in DB, its a very basic language which allows you to draw primitive shapes. Very nice to play about with, I still use it. Sony also no longer include YaBasic on the demo disk so anyone with a relativly new PS2 will not have it.

You can get a compiler for yabasic at http://www.bloodshed.net, sorry for not posting the exact link, I cant find it now. You need a C++ IDE, I think

Yeh yabasic was initially for PC, the problem is the programs can only be run from Yabasic on the PS2, so anyone who plays your game will have to have yabasic, load the source and run it. Also as I have said it is hardly a fully featured language like DB.

cheers

Jonny

If you want to program for the ps1 there a few options try to find a yazore kit on ebay. Use Psyq with illegal since you don't have a licence from sony. or the third option use blade libraries with is open source. the blade libraries can be found here http://www.blade.ip3.com/. if you want to use psyq there a few places you can get it use google to search for them.
