This is a bit strange, but bare with me...

Ok, I have had Grand Theft Auto: Vice City since this past Christmas when my wife bought it for me as one of my gifts. I still havent played it, in fact I havent been able to even install it. Reason being there was some sort of corrupted file on the second disc (from the factory - Rockstar has admitted to the problem) So today I downloaded an app called CDCHECK which inspects and does CRC checks on files. Turns out the problem is on the PLAY disc, in the AUDIO folder, with the file WILD.ADF. All the other files on both discs pass inspection OK

What I tried to do was have CDCheck repair the file into a local folder (which I did), and then copied both disks to folders as well - the Play disc being where the repaired file is located. I installed from the HD instead of the cd's but it still bombs out on Wild.adf because the cab info doesnt match the current file, so I need a good copy of the actual file.

What I was hoping is that someone with the game, a little web space, and a few spare minutes could zip up the this one file and allow me to download it? The file is kinda big. I would be forever endebted

The file I need is on the PLAY disc --(not the INSTALL disk)
the path is \AUDIO\WILD.ADF

once I have this file I can retry the hd install, or burn the neccessary files to a disk.

Hopefully someone will feel my pain and help me out on this strange request.

Thanks, CR

Go to http://www.freewebs.com/mayhemstudios/ then add wild.adf.zip
to the title bar.

It's just a geocities-like file protetor so that you see freeweb's adds.

guys, guys, guys.

wild.adf is one of the radio stations in GTA. It's nothing but a proprietary audio format.

Cow person, I feel your pain, but unfortunately I don't have the space to send it to you.

As Cattle said, it would be best to contact Rockstar - I would think they'll be able to replace the CD for perhaps a nominal cost.

If not, let me know and I'll see what I can do...

Just be warned there's a GTA employee sometimes reads here so if this is a warez thread it might just be spotted by the very people who you dont want to see it...

Lol, somehow I don't think you're going to crack GTA:VC just by obtaining a copy of the Wild Radio Station audio file.

I've been to DBSpot but I don't understand it - sorry!
Web site hosting and me just dont go hand in hand.

If you could explain to me (step by step) what to do I will be happy to do it.

I have set up a subdomain (whatever that means) but what next?

Sorry for my ignorance but I have only ever used the web for browsing.

I clicked on 'downloads' then on 'Submit a download' but all I got then was the message 'YOUR MOM'

what are you saying? The file I grabbed from you was 32KB in a zip, I never opened the zip, I scanned it for viruses and deleted it. There is no compression algorithm that can turn 64 megs into 32K

now bugger off

haha megaton... sweet sweet megaton. And the rest of you, ya bunch of TOOLS As Cow would so eloquently put it.

K, Scraggle: You need an FTP client. I suggest you download http://www.smartftp.com
Once you have that you will put ftp.dbspot.com in the address box
Then put yoursubdomain@dbspot.com (i.e. scraggle@dbspot.com) in the login box and your password in the password box.
Then press enter, it will connect, yay.

Then you will need to compress the file, with rar or zip and drag it into the FTP window. Then depending on your connection speed... YOU WAIT FOREVER. Good luck

OR TCA can just email it to him..

When Zip files go wrong...

they appear as either 32K or 64K files. I think the web server is refusing to serve the file to you.

@CattleRustler

I hope you have a good email thingy-mu-bob 'cos I sent you an email with the file attached (all 62.6Mb) It seemed to go from this end OK although it took about 2 hours with a 1Mb ADSL line. Hopefully you can get it at your end.

Let me know how you got on.
