When someone sends you hundreds of emails with a fake addy?
This is happening to my friend.. He has about 9000 emails now, all from a different sender (obviously fake). He reported his ISP and they aren't doing crap..

What should he do?

I'd advise him to get a new e-mail address, and only notify the people he knows well and who e-mail him often.

IF reporting doesn't work, check then use the IP to your advantage, email bomb him back (not illegal) or something

Ok, heres what you can do. Every e-mail has a header. Do you know how to find the header? The header includes the persons's IP. CHeck the header to make sure thats him. Then try contacting (e-mail never really works... call them) your ISP. If they don't do anything, you may be able (if the e-mail has abusive stuff in it) report it to your local cops. Depends on how bad it is. If it includes thretening stuff, deffinitly contact your local poliece.

if the IP is spoofed or he is using zombie machines via a trojan then there is nothing you can do really. If its spoofed the IP wont be his real IP. If its a Dspam then the zombie machines are unwitting participants. I'd think about this a little before bombing any IP you ee in the email headers. If this person thats spamming is doing this from an IP that can trace back to him then he is really really young, or really really stupid.

I had a problem with zombie trojans once. I got blasted from a number of random computers (about 300 or 400). Try changing your e-mail, that should stop it. If it doesn't, he probably has some kinda trojan on there that steals his e-mail. I didn't say to go bomb him though. You really shouldn't do that. Isn't it illegal?

Do you have a free-mail account like Hotmail?
I get tons of junk on Hotmail, but my fastmail account hasn't got one yet.

You could do an IP lookup which gives you the ISP he's using, then forward them all to that ISP's helpdesk with the subject "I believe these belong to you".

I had that same e-mail problem. I found out my machine was sending the e-mails to itself. Norton 2003 PRO AntiV fixed it but only when I booted up in safe mode with the internet unplugged.
