Sub-Zero is a bit taller and a lot more skinnier and If this is a Mortal Combat game based off the originals they didnt use weapons.

yeah, I know sub-zero's stature is alot different than the way i depicted it, but I did it on purpose. I also know that he didn't use weapons, but I have him some swords anyways. They originally gunna be iceicles, but that didn't turn out. instead i just did frosted swords...

Here is an update of sub-z:

Looking good. I especially like the shading you've done. By the way, what are you using to draw them with?

Nice sprites Calypson,
I especially like the 2nd SubZero one with the ice coming off the swords..

Do you have any ideas on the animations for those sprites?

Also are those the actual sizes for SubZero?

After all these comps are over, I'm planning on doing some more 2D work and one of the
things I want to try and build is a bit of a platform game, but featuring some unique ideas in the implementation.

Feel free to email me if you want to find out more. I don't wanna bore everyone here with my useless ideas..

thanks pincho and jokerz.
Well, i started animating the blue guy, but I got bored of working on him so i just quit, but here was the animation so far, if you wanna see:

I dont think i'll be animating sub-zero mainly because he wasn't made to be in a game, he was only made for the fun of it. The way i did AA on the edges of the sprite would make it really ugly if i put it on a different BG.

"Also are those the actual sizes for SubZero?"
whatcha mean by that? I just drew him that size cuz i felt like it. It was actually anatomy practice at first.
here was the muscel outline:

hmmm... I think i will email you, JorkerZ. I have made a few 2d platformers in my time so this may be interesting for me.

I just don't like the grey on top of the arms. Maybe you should use a less limited palette.

Quote: "MS Paint cant animate"

!? He most probably made it in paint and animated it in something like gif animator or animation shop.

!!!???? In paint you can use all 16.7 milion colours.

haha, yup MIR is right. I drew the frames in MS Paint and moved them into Macromedia Fireworks to convert them to animated gif. Also double click on a color in the MS Paint pallete and then click 'define custom color' for more color options.

Anyways, here is my latest pixel piece done in MS paint as well.

Hope you like it!

That alien dude is very well done, I like limited colours, they actually improve the look of a lot of graphics - 2D RPG's for example still adopt the limited pallete approach, your brain fills in the blanks, and too many shades is how detail is lost.

I would suggest PSP3.1 though, it's free, and it's damn good for sprite editing, but anything would be better than paint with it's 1 level zoom.

Hi, you´re from pixelation aswell I take it. I´ve seen them there, all of them but didn´t crit. Cool pics, but, they are huge. How are you going to animate something so big?

In my opinion it isn´t better than paint because it´s missing the most inportant tool, the line tool. MS paint is one of the best to use for sprites/pixel art. I like the alien the best though.

Van´s right, it doesn´t need that many colours, maby try dithering the colours for the next fighters. Keep up the good work.
P.S I´m MIR´s bro again, not MIR himself.

dude, van was talking about thousands of colors being too much when using gradients in photoshop and such, and if you think that 13 colors is too much for a pixel pic, your crazy man! lol, maybe its just "your brain filling in the blanks" too well. dithering is a good style as well, and i used in in this quite some time ago:

also, i dont plan on animating those large pics. these pics were ment to be static. If i were to do animation, I would lower the color count and make them smaller. lol, like this little guy i made a while ago. lol, hes so cute isn't he?:

I use MSPaint a lot as well. I don't think I'll ever be as good as you guys but here is some stuff I've done this month:

This was done during a 3 hour plane flight (I wasn't interested in watching Harry Potter).

Both female and male.

And of course,
