Vast cities and remote villages dot the landscape, each with its own unique look and feel. Hundreds of adventures await as you interact with characters and learn more.

With Midtime, in the world's richness of detail and level of visual splendor. Midtime will feature hyper-realistic textures and polygon counts, real-time shadows, vast landscapes, skeletal based animation, and a complete weather system.

If I were you I would buy Morrowind for the PC.
There is a very good and efficient construction set.
Have a go at making just one of these remote villages.
Even though you will already have an engine for playing it, a top notch level editor and premade textures and models, see how long it takes you and then consider making the whole game from scratch in Dark Basic.

Don't think you can.

What I am saying is that you should first try making such a big game on a ready made engine, such as the Morrowind mod creator. Then you will realise that it is going to be impossible to make such a HUGE game in Dark basic. Your best to make your game as a Morrowind mod as you will be unable to make the powerful engine required for such an RPG in Dark Basic. You should start making mods before trying to take on such a great challenge. Once you have realised the unbelievable amount of work needed for the game you have described above, you will be more likely to succeed.

hmmm, a RPG? Well, if you must... How bout some screens? That way we at least know you're serious...

btw, I never made a pong clone either... but then again I started programming when I was 10 Ah, those were the good ol days of QBasic... hehe, here I am reminiscing about the past and I'm still a teenager

~Hawkeye

[EDIT: just thought of this... what if you make your game a open-ended engine? you know, have all your assets in nice little folders so ppl can mod then as they wish... and not to mention you'll woln't have the tremendious load of making all those unique villages yourself ]

ya dbspot will be ur best bet... you just have to cough up web pages to upload.

Just a side note: RPG's are f*cking hard to make... well, at least one thats to my standards.

Sorry but i don't think you will make anything like you posted in your first post...especially as your first game...

P.S. maybe you shouldn't work on the menu first...instead work on oh say the engine(start with a dude running around a matrix)

That's a HUGE undertaking there gothboy. I think what these guys are trying to tell you is nobody that's started out with their first game being a game of this magnitude has ever succeeded. One of the best RPG-ish games I've seen in DB was Equilibrium, which sadly the developer ceased work on. Even if you're a seasoned programmer with years of game programming experience, the project you're wanting to create is far too big to do on your own....However, if you start it out small (matrix with a person running around on it with one building to go inside)and continue to build on it, then perhaps you can 'eventually' get the game to be where you want it. Please don't take this as trying to shoot your project down, as that is not my intent. I wish your project well, though like Magellan said, it's not likely that you'll be able to pull this off. Then again, who knows, maybe you're the wizkid of rpg game making that could pull it off....Either way, sounds like a fun project to work on. I hope you stick with it..

PC Specs: AMD 1800+ 512M DDR, Radeon 128meg DDR - DB v1.13

Well at age 12 you should have plenty of time to work on it. You don't have the distractions of job, wife, house, etc., you just have school. Looking forward to some screenshots.

well they dont remain when you dont call them unlike sprites where you have to hide or delete them, plus text goes over pasted images naturaly (as long as u call them after) unlike sprites

Lol, you are trying to make morrowind and I have great proof.

Go to here

http://www.elderscrolls.com/index.php?url=/games/games_overview.htm&bg=02

and read the second and third paragraph.

Is that where you got your game description from! lol

Sounds pretty similar (word for word) to me.

Also, your website seems to suggest a sequel - to a game that hasn't even been made yet!!! lol

You also say it is the best medieval game ever, quite impressive for a game that doesn't even exist!

Busted!

Son, if you are going to steal text from other games, at least rephrase it, don't just leave it word-for-word.
