Hello,

I'm pretty confused about making a runway (or road) on textured
matrix. When I am close, it's okay, but as I (the camera) get far
from the object (runway), it's seem that the matrix slowly
"eating" the runway!

What can I do except using the SET MATRIX TILE (which is not suitable
to my need)?

SET CAMERA RANGE is your first issue. If your road is 2000 units long, and your camera range is 1000, it will disappear.

You can combine the range with FOG, so that the road gently fades into the fog, and you never see it being culled by the camera range.

You can also use a Skybox to house your scene. Again this should be used in conjunction with Camera range and fog settings

That's not the problem. I did set the camera range to 1,30000

The problem happens when I put a flat object like runway or
road on a matrix, than at some distance, the matrix begin
to destroy the object (the object not disapear, it's begining
to sink into the matrix slowly like a boat). I tried to set the
y position (altitude) of the object 3, 5 and even 10 above the matrix, but it doesn't help. By the way, I even tried the same on full 3d objects (unlike flat road) and the same problem happen at some distance.

It could be the resolution at the distance in question, and perhaps even hardware being unable to cope.

Maybe you could post an example for others to try on different setups?

Runs OK here - you can see my specs in my sig below. I ran it at 1024 x 768, latest public version of Direct X.

It gets a little jerky as it becomes a very small area in the screen, but doesn't actaully "sink" or disappear at all.

By the way, I'm running DB Pro, not classic. I don't know if that makes a difference.

The problem happens when I use Dark Basic Classic. When I tried it
on Dark Basic Pro, it works without any problem. I prefer using
Dark Basic Classic for educational and training purposes (it's
run faster).

Well, I have a good new and bad news:
good news is that when I set the FRONT VALUE in the SET CAMERA
RANGE bigger (100 for example), the problem is solved.
The bad news is that when I set the FRONT VALUE so big, I
can't see anything when I'm close to the object!

Any idea?

Now I remember a similar problem. I used to get zig-zag edges where two objects met in Classic. I only had to increase it to around 5 to get rid of the problem. I was working at closer range, though.

It's a problem because I need very big world.
