do you have dbpro or classic, if you have pro you can use create animated sprite. when you use that all the frames are in the same image divided equally. But if you have classic, youll just have to change the image you use for the sprite, i guess.

and for software, mspaint is fine, not the best but it will do, unless you want to spend like $500 for adobe photoshop 7, there was a pretty good paint program that was free, i cant remember what it was called write now though.

edit:yeah, i remember now, its ccalled gimp, get it at

Or Anim8or which is a free 3D modeller. It actually makes great 2D animations. But you have to learn how to model. I prefer this method, combined with Photoshop.

PSP is OK. You can still get Anim8or as well. It helps you to get the lighting right on your graphics.

You cant use GIFs in DarkBasic, I believe. Well, if you want something like when the sprite moves to the right, and the characters legs and arms move to right as if they are running, you will need to animate your sprite in DarkBasic.

Moving sprites is easy:

sprite 1,0,0,1
sync
sprite 1,10,0,1
sync

and you moved sprite 1. Just call the sprite command again.
