im sick of those stupid strings!!! so im gonna take a break. anyway, the movie by itself was pretty good. they had no real reason to associate it with Asimov. the only connection it had with the books was the positronic brain which was used in star trek anyway.

now i said by itself it was pretty good but since it used the issak asimov liscence, it was terrible. it was a total travesty to his books. first of all, it takes place in about 30 years while the books take place in about 1000 years which is a little more realistic. second, his whole idea of the 3 laws is that they are hard wired into the bains and theres no way to get by them except for tricking the robot. in the movie, they are controlled by some "evolved" program. thats just stupid.

Its only slightly inspired by the rather late Asimov - it doesn't really use any bits of his books.

Not at all.

Think of the Matrix. Our lives are controlled by robots, that for some reason feel it is necessary to create a world program that we live in, but in reality they should have just put us in a coma and used other means to keep us alive longer. That way we wouldn't gain the knowledge required to communicate with those outside the matrix and rebel over and over again. How stupid is that?
