This is a program that allows you to make your own world, then lets you run it (ie. lets you run around shooting stuff, killing things, stealing cars, doing flips, blow things up). I'm now at the stage where im writing some help documents, and making some final adjustments before I release it for FREE!!!

Enjoy the screens and please pose any questions you have, I have alot of free time on my hands right now so I can spend a little more on these forums.

oh, forgot to mention some features;

in editor;
-make hills, plateau, roughen or smooth matrix
-'smart' painting of tiles (eg, roads automatically link up correctly and reset their heights when slanted sideways, rock blends with grass and sand etc)
-position objects
-paint trees onto the landscape, they are then automatically upodated with any changes eg. height, deleted if below water or on a road.
- load and save maps

ingame:

-car physics/damage
-4 weapons (pistol,machine gun,shotgun,rocket launcher)
-particles (explosions, water, blood)
-ai on cars, people and police (chase and shoot you)
-realtime weather/day-night cycle

The folder is about 30mb (not in a zip file), though I can make some changes to cut the size. I will also release extra 'parts' (objects) as separate zip files at a later date. I don't really have any system requirements for you, I guess they must be the same as DBPro.

btw, The main character is a thug, just without his mask thingy. Anyway, its high time a game featured a crazed office worker fed up with...well...working in an office I guess...

yeah, thats a bug in DBPro. Apperently it can be fixed by using dds textures so I'll give it a go.

Those trees are like the ones in GTA3. That had a graphic bug too.

looks sweet. Some pre-built levels would be cool, for that sorta pick up and play element, that may already be a feature of yours though.

excellent work

This looks awesome! Now I have something to be excited about .

But.. I think you need to work on the trees a little, I remember in The City if you went by a tree it would be flat (or something near that). Maybe you could ask David T to make you some trees once he gets Tree Magick Pro .

Oh no! Chrissy had used her powers to turn herself into a hideous man-eating giant!

@ Osirius; doors do not open. about 10 cars. 26 buildings (so far - will make add on packs). no, you cannot swim. I figured if you were wearing a big thick black jacket and trousers you'd probably find it too hard to swim (that or I just havent bothered... )

@ Supermonkey: yeah, I've already made 3 levels; a mountain town, a mini version of Manhattan and a not-so-grand canyon. I plan to make more with each model pack (eg. pack of jumps = stunt level)

@ The Lynx: Yeah, the trees in this are not quite the same. They are made up of 2 plains slotted together, not just one which points at the camera. I can't use any fancy models for them though as you may end up having a thousand trees in a level and I'm afraid higher poly models would cause ridiculous slowdown.

This is a very promising project. Curious, what did you use to make the "roads"?

PC Specs: AMD 1800+ 512M DDR, Radeon 128meg DDR - DB v1.13

I was planning on adding helicopters, but due to the nature of the vehicle code (ie. how they are loaded and dealt with), it would be a bit odd to implement. At the moment, cars load automatically and you don't have to place them anywhere, whereas helicopters are a vehicle which you would probably have to place manually in edit mode.

However, as a 'vehicle placement' mode would allow helicopters and all sorts of 'special' vehicles, its something I may consider for future versions. Im sure the physics code I already have would be easily adapted.

Im afraid multiplayer is way beyond me. I havent even glanced at the online multiplayer commands yet, I'm not even sure how the whole online deal works, and it's be difficult to fit 2 players on 1 keyboard. It may be a different project for me in the future though...

@ _Mike_ : As for the roads, they're just matrix tiles. I used vanseam to create them, then added the lines in photoshop. The smart paint allows the roads to be automatically fit together, ie. corners appear where they should be with you selecting the different tiles.

Hope I answered a few questions. Keep 'em coming...

No specific date, but probably within the month/next couple of weeks.

Oh, btw. Could someone tell me how to change the icon in the top left of the GUI (not that red, green, blue yellow icon).

Just made some decisions today. I was gonna try and sell it on eBay for a while before releasing it for free, but couldn't be bothered to pay the fees and spend time on something that would probably end up failing miserably...

Over the last week I've been making some final adjustments and fixing bugs and adding bits and all that right now, and I think the program is actually ready...
edit: oh wait, I need to change the road textures!

So, once I get a website devoted to 'i world' sorted, I'll post it up for free, with free model packs to be released and any free updates I may need to release.

For the AI, I used waypoints setup in realtime by the cars as they moved about. It would test whether roads go off to the left or right or straight on and then make a random decision. Its target was then calculated and they move off towards it. The process repeats itself every time they reach their target. Same goes for people, but with a little difference to make sure they dont cross the roads.

I noticed that your trees leave an outline when they overlap stuff. I found a way to fix that, but I can't remember what it was. I'll check at my house later and return with the code.

@ thief: I'm working on the site now. Best to organise it all before I upload it so as to prevent any issues in the future.
No, there are no police helicopters im afraid.
Shooting is like GTA 3, yes.
Yes there are weather changes.
Will come out so soon...

@ Daris Xiao : By god mode do you mean invincibility and infinite ammo and stuff like that? Or ability to make your own world? Because the answer is yes to the second, and 'oh, that could be easy and fun to add' to the first.

Im so ready to post a demo, but for some reason I cant connect to my website host at the moment so I cant upload anything. I'll retry later.

btw. this first release will really be just so I can get some feedback, so any more tweaks to physics etc can be made for a proper full version later on.

The thing is, PayPal has been causing problems, as I was going to pay via paypal. But now that it says I have to wait another week, I'll just pay for hosting by credit card.

So, maybe a week or so before its completely sorted, though I may just upload the file for you all to download.
