Ilya... If someone sneaks up on you with a baseball bat beating you to death how are you suppose to defend yourself. Specially since it was 1 am in the morning and they were all sleeping.

Edit... Also they werent related. They all just worked at a local burger king or something so my guess is they lived together to afford rent. And if you work at burger king ya your going to be kinda poor.

If I was in that situation I would atleast try and fight back!

Common misconception... the biggest high school shooting, for example, happened in Europe. The whole 'America=Murder' thing is like the Bermuda Triangle: people don't compare their selection with the rest of the world and come to ridiculous conclusions.

Who says they didn't? But imagine, if you will, that you're in a deep sleep, and someone hits you as hard as they can over the head with a baseball bat. If you wake up, you'll probably be too traumatized or disoriented to move. BANG! One more hit and you for sure will be knocked out or dead. These aren't pillows, folks, they're baseball bats!

Aye. Which relates to how disgusting that is. It's one to thing to give someone a chance to defend themselves when you're killing 'em (still deserves death sentence). It's another thing to kill someone who's relatively defenseless. But bashing in someone's head in their sleep? That's on its own bloody level of screwed-up-ness.

I hardly agree with the equal punishment concept, but I think all of them, being of 18 years or older, deserve death sentence for that... crime doesn't get much more foul.

Like I said I live near the area where the murders happened and the local news stations dont have much info. They dont know if they were sleeping or awake... they dont know if the victims fought back... and so on. Also they didnt state the xbox was stolen during the news but "Missing" and located in a box inside the house. And dont say "Only in America" because if you read a couple post below you will see that some kid killed another kid because Manhunt influenced him in Scottland or something.

Death sentence....which is hurts worse:

Suffering intense pain for a few seconds only to leave this Earth and never have to feel pain again.

or

Rotting in a high security prisons with a bunch of guys who rape other guys when there are no guards around.


Still though, it'd be good to at least get rid of the guy who organized it, especially since he has a criminal record.

Bestowing death sentence because it's kinder than life sentence (heh) deals with the symtom and not the problem. The gov't needs to start putting way more funding into straightening prisons out. Messy business

I remember one time, I was about 9.

my neighbor had his ps1 stolen, and his memory cards thrown into a bon fire. well, he then goes over to my friends(person who did it) house who lives about 6 blocks away, and breaks the kids collar bone, takes his ps1 back to his house, and starts playing it.

Just wait until Senator Lieberman gets wind of this--- him and his ilk are attracted to any crime remotely related to video games.

I'm sure if there's a copy of GTA III or Manhunt in the Xbox then they'll say that it drove them to use bats and murder. Of course they'll overlook the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Natural Born Killers, and Reservoir Dogs DVDs by the television set...

USA has BY FAR the highest murder rate of the world. (of all 1st world countries)
Yah you even top Somalia!
If you add all the murders of all the Europe of the past 3 years you don't even get half as many as in the USA in the last year.
And BTW which was the biggest high school shooting? you're talking about Erfurt, Germany right?

Now this is just NOT true!!

Murder rates BY PERCENTILE:

USA: 0,00624%
England: 0,0003%
Canada: 0,0006%
Germany: 0,00021%

So you see USA has a 20 times higher murder rate than England BY PERCENTILE!

(Those statistics are from 1998, the source is German if i can find an English one.
Those numbers are official, there's nothing WRONG about them.)

Isreal has a very low murder rate, because all the killings are done by Palistinians (I know I misspelled that). I think the highest by percentile in the world has to be somewhere in Africa. I count military killing civilians murder (as in not targeting militants but killing civilians accidently).
