If you have been folowing my posts i have said i would eventually do an IDE for db pro. Well i am making it at the moment and i have decided to put the progress report here for now until me website is up and running, then i will put it on there.
So here is the first progress report:

16/08/2004 09:40 pm

Just finished the Key Word list loading. The ide can now get the list of key words directly from dbpro and import them in. Also detects dbpro installation to make sure they can compile.

Added program error handling in and started main ide design.

Work for tomorow:

- load .dbpro files and get information
- load .dba files along with .dbpro files and initiate simple saving
- start website design for software

Well not much done today, spent most my time writing file saving and opening routines. Bit dull and boring but one of the most important parts of the program (except compiling!)

Wrote routine to load .dbpro files and get all values into program. I am now designing the IDE to help display these values and options.

Also had my first email suggestion through, you know who you are! Just to let you know i have replied to your email and all the suggestions you have made will be in the program.

Anyway, i have to go to bed for now, has been a long day!
Keep the suggestions comming. giles@superchiefsoftware.com

Well i am still working on general loading saving and other stuff for .dbpro files and .dba files.
I have started work on the internal media browser, though this is second priority to getting the file saving and such like working properly. I had to go back to it in the end because of a bug, ridiculas the amount of damage one statement can make!

Anyway, syntax checking and highlighting will be added soon, once i have the major tasks finished.

i hope to have basic file saving finished by tomorow and loading finished. I will then start work on the media browser.

Anyway losts more work to be done, keep the suggestions comming

Any suggestions please email to giles@superchiefsoftware.com

Is it going to be for DBPro only or will it be a generic programmers editor? I ask this becasue while ConTEXT is an amazing editor it has it's flaws (basically no support for DBPro text highlighting) and I'm looking for a new general purpose programming editor that supports a lot of languages.

Well it is used for dbpro only at the moment but i am considering puttin in all my other editors into one. I am adding a lot of functions into this editor that are DB specific so it could happen but might not.

I am signing off this early today because i am off down the gym in 20 mins and won't have enought time when i get back to carry on any more.
Well still working on file loading and syntax highlighting. I hope to have this finished soon, it is just full of small bugs which i didn't originally notice.
The media browser is just about opperational as well. This is built into the software and can most types of media. File it will be able to view are: .bmp, .jpg, .gif, .3ds, .x, .mdl and others. Any formats you can think of, put them in.

Anyway more work to be done tomorrow and keep your suggestions comming.

I might also be going to the convention (if anyone else is going). If you are there you can express your requests for the program and maybe report any bugs to me in person

Sounds cool, but wouldn't this thread get more attention in the program announcements? It seems that there are quite a lot of new threads popping up in the general forum, and this may get burried.

Good Luck!

I will move the thread when there is a beta version of the software, i feel it isn't at the stage where people will be interested enough to read it
