Just wondering what everyone's fave horror film is here.

Many of you have seen Night Of The Living Dead by now, and are aware that it was basically the first and the best of the indie horror films in it's class.

Here in America, it out-grossed (both money and vomit wise) Rosemary's Baby and the major film companies were taken a back that a small indie could slay the Hollywood giants. Romero has slacked off lately, his films haven't been that good (Bruiser was disappointing) but his Living Dead trilogy will always rule.

His stories have always been better than his films. In any case, what are some of the favorite movies of the folks here on the Forum?

They're coming to get you, Barbara..

Johnny, stop it now I mean it......

They coming for you Barbara..
look, there comes
one of them now......

AHHH I've been waiting for someone to write a post like this. I got heaps of favs when it comes to horror flicks.
There's the Evil Dead series (while not in any way scary Bruce Cambell is funny as hell), and then there's the Hellraiser series with the Pin-head demon, and who could forget the Halloween series (the coolest was Halloween 4 where he puts that woman on a hay stack machine and her entrails get shredded). I could go on and on, but to cut a long reply short, my absolute all time favourite would be....everything afore mentioned (I love horror movies).
Thank you so very much for posting this.

Cool man!
Yeah the Evil Dead was something-I remember being so wowed and awed by the strangeness of the ending of the second one, saying to myself "how did we get from a deserted cabin to the Dark Ages"?

Army Of Darkness was great! And funny.
Definitely a crazy cap to a wild series.

I also like another American TV film called 'Don't be Afraid Of The Dark' about a woman who, against the will of her handyman, unbolts the sealed door of her fireplace, and unleashes a trio of midget demons who terrorize her all the way thru the film. TV movies were never as good as this but again it was the 70's.

And yes, since you are from Australia, you are probably familiar with my fave science fiction show, Lost In Space. The first season was total terror and hardcore sci-fi, but as the second and third seasons came to bear, the show sucked.
Had it stayed as hardcore to sci-fi as it was in the first B&W season, it would have remained for many years to come.

By the way, I have met the entire cast of Lost In Space, and have their autographs in a series of 'Then-And-Now' group shots. Jonathan Harris recently passed away, but I count myself damn lucky to have known him from the conventions.

87 years old and he always flew out from Los Angeles every year, and he always remembered his fans from the previous shows. He had a good long life and I for one miss him dearly.

Oh yeah! It's been ages since I've seen any Lost in Space goodness, but (since I'm 16 and didn't get a chance to see this all when it was released) I've rented just about everything I could find on Lost in Space (though after a while the plot became way too predictable and just a joke).
Lucky you, meeting the cast, a one in a lifetime event. Mr. Harris was a great man, and he brought so much life into LIS. One of the legends to remember.

The Ring is the best horror movie ever. No question. It's plot and cinematography is BEAUTIFUL, holy crap it's so good. Beats all the classics, although Chainsaw Massacre is a close second.

The Others is another great new one, very good. I've heard They is really bad for a horror movie.

All the Halloween movies where sheer crap gore fests, they all suck. Terrible plots and worse acting, they are not worth seeing.

You know The Ring 2 is out now? Saw it as a new release in BlockBuster. I'll get that when I have the time. The Ring was awesome (can't believe I forgot it).
Merry Christmas,

Day of the Dead is my fave, a group of army guys and scientists living in an abandoned missle silo, totally losing it, realising theres no-one else left while being completely surrounded by zombies. Very Gory!! Great Stuff!!

It was probably the japanese version, you know The Ring is a prequal to a japanese movie, it explains a lot of it

Ooops sorry fogrot to mention that, the two titles are basically the same. I've seen both now and while the Japanese version was good, the English/American Ring was creepier....for me. Sorry about that.
Here's another movie (or series), Nightmare on Elms Street. This goes way back and to be honest is in no way scary, but very funny.

I loved the original Halloween movie, its probably the only horror movie i have seen that keeps me awake all night worrying about every little noise in my house, I hardly remember any gore either just lots of suspense and a few chase scenes.

btw imdb movie ratings :-
The ring 7.7/10 (5,524 votes)
Halloween 7.6/10 (11,722 votes)
I think they are both good movies in their own right

Specs:- 1GHZ athlon, Radeon8500, 192mb ram, winxp

^_^ you should be... its difficult... you need to overclock your bus... your cpu... hardware style... then get a software overclock -_- but i need to change that now... it seems my new video card wont let me go above 1.25 ghz normaly... it makes win2kpro have a stop error... maybe ill get winxp pro... that might let me do it... OH AND REMEMBER LIQUID COOLING WITH FREON... OTHERWISE YOUR CPU IS TOAST... and get artic silver 3... and a nice thermaltake volcano 7+... with the liquid cooling mount on the cpu then the heat sink and huge fan... doesnt go anywhere near room temp but watch your freon levels... if they get to small ... your comp is toast... be sure you pay attention to how well your radiator is working too... ^_^ i overclocked my ram once... didnt seem to to do much hehe...

Without reading the above posts, the scariest movie I've ever seen was "Lilo and Stitch"
