I'm making my first game in DBP and it will be PTCGA! It will be an adventure game based on the card game. so you must travel the world in order to battle against other players and to gain every card there is to find. I'm planning to make the core first, later on I will update frequently to add more cards, more players, more options, more special effects,... But first the core game. I started on the duel engine. Here is a screen of it:

After the duel engine is done, I will begin on the adventure part. Then I will create the world map and so on. But I'll like to know how everyone think's of this and if someone has suggestions on the adventure part. Say what you like to see in the game, tell ideas for the world map,... just tell me or e-mail me! Hope you like the screenie .

Niceish! It's kinda funny, but I got stuck with over two thousand cards back in the day. I still have them too... I'd love to play across the internet against other people. 'twould be great.

First off... that looks like a screen rip. (you even left the TM in the Pokemon trading game image )

Second off, i'm pretty sure thats a copywrited card game, still being sold through out the stores.

Third, there are 3 games out for this Trading Card Game, 2 on the GB and 1 on the PC IIRC, all copywrited.

EDIT: Unliscensed use of the card scans are also a suible offense

Oh and yes even if you we're doing a game, MTG would be better. (I am an former Avid player, was top at show in Fith Dawn Pre release with a total of 45 wins, I played 3 flights.) Haven't played in a while though, thinking about drafting tomorrow.

That's not a screen rip! I made it myself, except for the cards and the logo! And it's just a fan game. Is it so bad to use the gfx for a fan game???? It is not maent to get money out of it. I started on it because I play with the card game myself (I own many many cards) and there is no way to test my deck before a toornament. So I make it to test my deck! But I thought, Why not made it an adventure game? Where you must also collect the cards? That will be cool. so I will make it. And here is a screen from the game on pc: (And it only let you play the game with a limited number of decks!)

Personally, I think it would be better if you made your own card game and cards. It would be a lot more work but it might be worth it. You can take the best concepts from other games like pokemon/magic/yu-gi-oh and put your own spin on it. It wouldn't help you in pokemon tournaments, but if your system is good then it'll establish it's own community and you can start your own tournament!

Looks good so far. Are you going to let us play around with the card game side while you make the rpg side?

I agree with you there. If it´s a fan game with no money making envolved then it shouldn´t be a problem. Just keep going with your idea. No one should stop you.

lol geeze man this is looking very professional ! Im just mad that it is about POKEMON!!!! I think when you complete this you should use the Battle Engine to form your own completly new card game. Well keep up the good work, and hopefully you will be working on a RPG remake soon .

here is a little "demo" if you like to test it:

http://users.telenet.be/DDreams/PTCGA.zip

you can only place basic pokémon on the bech!
left mouse button: do action
right mouse button: end turn (also when placing the first benched pokémon)

you will always get the same cards because I did not done (yet) the randomize thing!

I always said if I could go back in time, the first person I'd kill would be the creator of Pokemon... barring time travel, you'll do nicely.

lol

looks great...personally, i would make my own card game with this engine when you're done, because you shouldnt waste such effort or such a nice engine on something that is stuck in a coma and will never really come out until it's dead (if you get my drift)

keep up the good work

talking about pokemon fan remake game
not trying to steal this thread or anything, but check out these games:

http://web.tiscali.it/grafica_x/corpo-i.html
written in 3D rad I think.

http://www.spiritedtechnology.com/screens.htm
written in C++.

They are really cool!

After playing with PokemonPC 1.0, I wanted to make my own.
that was when I started with DarkBASIC.

so if I had not played that game, I would never had been here!!!
and I would never had been interested in game development infact probably not even games or programming at all! I guess I would have used all my time on writing songs and lyrics... or maybe I would have been a pro skater by now...

so my goal here in life is to make the best Pokemon Remake Game ever!! that is the reason why I started with programming first place.. (one can have fantasies, right? )

Thief 3 : Deadly Shadows, The BEST game in the WORLD!
(and I cant buy it since I have a Geforce4MX 420 and NO MONEY!!!)

I seriously doubt Nintendo would care if he made a Pokemon fangame. If it was commercial quality they might stop him from distributing it, rip it right outta his hard drive, hand him a wad of cash and say "We'll start charging for it now." Not likely, but we can have fantasies(well said n0id).

lol, great idea, too bad it's Pokemon.
BTW, do you play Lord of the Rings TCG? I was working on a game like this for that game (for me and my friends, of course),
but I gave up a while ago, and now I'm thinking about starting it up again. Do you have any tips?

I do not play lord of the rings but I can give you some tips:

*make a type called card were all the needed stuff is on you need like:

type card
name
color
attackname
weakness
area
...
endtype

this will help you not using more than 2 arrays!

if you have more questions, just mail me. maybe i can help you programming the game. (as a team) just let me know if there is something you want
