I read a review about a ps2 game a while ago where you had to draw your on characters in a paint type program and it´ll make 3d cell shaded characters out of them. I was just wondering. Does a program that converts 2d images to 3d models exist? I´m not talking about terrains and hightmaps but sideways on 2d pics and 3d models. Anybody know anything about this?

Edited to make sense

Is the game the "Magic Pedlum or something like that?" Cuz that's a odd rpg style thing from Agetec.

It'd have to be very, very specific... this is virgin technology we're dealing with. Besides, adding a dimension to something will never work 100% off the bat.

Theres tons of them but, the good ones are expensive and the free or cheap ones are about worthless you mine as well just make your own models unless you have a couple thousand to spend and even the good ones still require you to add some of your own geometry. Just search 2d pictures to 3d models.

this is just one of them

Darn, oh well I guess there´s no other option but learn 3d. I´ll put it on my to do list, right after learning Portugese.

3dsmax lets you extrude 3 dimensions from a 2d image, but it is then up to you to tweak the model after that - so basically I was of absolutely no help

There is something like this on the Gamecube I think. You draw a character then battle it, and the better you do in battles, the more you can draw.
