Hi,

A while ago I set up a gmail account which I was primarily using for forums. It's surprising how many legitimate people contact you ofor help!

But it's also surprising how many bots pick up your email. I'm getting spams saying stuff like "Hi I saw your site at forum.thegamecreators.com....".

Like many sites (such as php.net) can either we be allowed to enter emails as

tattyd [at] gmail.com

or the software replace '@' sign with 'at'?

At the moment it tells me its an invalid email address.

It would really help if it was added, stop my address receiving so much spam and hopefully stop others from getting it in the first place.

I get so much spam to my dbp@fuzzee address it's unreal. It's almost tempting to remove the email button and start again. On a similar note, I'm gutted that my personal email address has succumbed to the pressures of spam. My once spotless inbox is now littered with crap.

David T > You can just instigate your own system. Change your email address to something like david.my-underwear@yourdomain.com. Then, in your sig you just say "to email me, just remove my underwear". A lil' giggle and a spam protection system.

Yeah I suppose. Didn't think about it, I was thinking about php's system.

thats ok, now my isp is catching virus email attachments coming from users of this forum. Some of you may be infected with something.

The most recent was an attempted Netsky virus sent to me via Lokidcat(sp?) Loki, might wanna look into that.

oh well
