hello again

I've just test skinned my uv maped object. now heres the problem.

when i load my object in DBpro (.x file) my object comes out all black. i've even tried to use the texture object command and it ain't helped one bit.

i don't know what could be wrong with it. any ideas.

btw its been exported from 3d max using the panda exporter.

Are the lighting normals missing? Try setting the set object ambient and set object light commands to 0 for that object.

i've tried what you've said and its still black. its as if the texture isn't being places on the model.

it all looks fine in 3d max but not when its been exported.

my code runs fine for non textured models, but now that i textured it i get just a black colouring

any1 else got any solutions?

I think I know what is going on. I had this same problem. Make sure you have the .dds file in the same folder as your project.

Say, for example, I want to load a Knight into my project. I need to have the "H-Kight-Idle.x" file in my project, as well as the "Kight.dds" file. The .dds contains the texture of the model. Try that. I hope that works!

.dds is a texture format. You may have .bmp or .jpg. You still need to make sure the texture(s) are in the same folder as the model. But if my textures are missing my models show up white with set object ambient and light to 0.
[edit] set normalization on command may help. If not, if you could post the model or email it too me. I'll see what I can find. Good luck.

i'll try the normalisation thing as u say.

the texture is a BMP and it is in the same file as the .x file

if i have no luck with it then i'll send u both 3ds and x file along with the texture for it.

bare in mind the texture ain't finnished yet. i just want it to show up so i can see how it looks in the game so far.

Cool man. Glad you got it working.
[edit] I never got the email anyway. Must have been a sending error. Or I would have come back on here sooner.
