As a person who bough darkbasic back in the day and doesn't want to buy darkbasic pro. DarkBasic has died! Its has been on v1.13 for a long time now and all thats left to it is this forum. Every other day someone says in the forums that they bough DBpro and wants to know whats different or how to use it or some other nhub question that will phiss me off because they have DBpro and probley can't do crap with it. How about I get a free copy of darkbasic pro so i can make games that will make thegamescreators look better. I haven't seen a new good game in the showcase yet for DBpro. SO if any persons with the power to give out free copies of DBpro reads this I have one thing to say...... come on...COME ON!!!

If you talk to Rich, or Lee, or Mike, they have the power to give you a free copy of DBPro, they usually will charge a $90 fee to cover things like shipping, memory transfer, and such.

I see you joined August 22. I hope that doesn't mean you've been programming since August 22, I'll assume that you have been using DB longer than that.

What's the point of this thread?
If you think you can make the next new hit game with DBP then go some lawns and buy it.
Beware the Moon was pretty cool despite its speed problems, and the usual guys have been cranking out some really nice utilities.

Why is DBC dead?
It's retired. I don't own Pro, a lot of people only own Classic. You can make games for a variety of system specs with it. For DBPro you're generally limited to the newer generation of computers, but with DBC it was originally written a while ago so it supports the older computers as well as all the newer ones.

Ya i just made a new name for the forums because i got off of them for awhile and they changed the webpage around and they changed the sign on stuff so i made a new name. Ya i know their as some good games for the DBpro showcase but come on 95% of them are horriable, but DB showcase pwns it in the head. Oh ya and the point of the forum is to see if anyone is willing to send me a free copy of DBpro because i'm just so damn pathetic and cute.

Win a compo or something. I guess if you can't finish stuff in DBC, you're not cut out for pro.

And you are not cute.

Start coding a game for the TGC or Retro Remakes competition. They both give winners a copy of dbpro.

Skelator, I have removed your posts, as they encourage stealing which is something that is looked down upon in all societies.

Ed,
DBC is not "dead". No, there haven't been any updates for DBC since 1.13 enhancement pack, and no there will be no more unless they sell the rights to a 3rd party and they develope it further ( that is about as likely as the source for Long Horn being released ).
If you had a look around the site, you would see the developers area, and subsequently find the Dev Diaries of the creators of DarkBASIC, and you will see that they are busy with multiple other projects, including DBP updates, which is one of the many, many reasons why DBC will not be "resurected".

There are still thousands of users of DBC. Just because the DBC forum is not as busy as the DBP one doesn't mean that there aren't still people using it!

I for one still use it, along with DBP.

There are extreme differences between the two languages which is why you see the "whats different about DBP" threads.

You will not get a free copy of DBP from anyone here. Do not ask for one.

If you want it, buy it. Simple as that.

The games in the showcase do not reflect the current titles in DBP, they are only the ones that they authors have submitted to Rich ( the admin ) to be put in the Showcase.

Again, a simple browse of the forums will prove that this is the case.

Even though, the likes of games like Merc2 and Room Wars ( the last compo winner ) prove that DBP can produce high quality games in the end.

The same goes for DBC, with the likes of DUO and other simple awesome games produced such as Star Wraith and Rift Space ( the author of which does not use these forums [much] ).

Over all, don't post useless, wrong information on the forum before searching.

Also, Skelator, do not promote stealing from parents, there are a lot of impressionable young teens that browse here, who might just listen to you. Stealing is wrong.

Locked.

Jess.
