Yes, I have found out how to open 3ds models, and easily change them. I do this, by opening the 3ds model with Wordpad. When I open the model, I do not see the model, but a whole bunch of squares and symbols. What do these symblols mean? Do any of you know how to convert these symbols to normal words like "vertex" and "line"

you will never be able to work like that. Don't even try. That's machine code for how the model is interprited by the computer. Chaning one character will mess up the whole model. Most of the characters aren't recongnizable by a word program because they aren't in the standard lanugage. DO NOT TRY TO WORK LIKE THIS! There's now way to do that.

What you're probably thinking of is a text .x file - you can apparently edit them from within something like word or notepad.

Milkshape rules. You just need to use it before you make such bold statements. Milkshape is an AWESOME modeller.

Dont try milkshape for 2 minutes and just because its not as noobish as Anim8or is, then give up. Milkshape is great. It is capable of both high and low poly modelling. Dont make such bold statements until actually USING the product for a while.

Anim8tor really isn't a particularly good for games development package, and still not really setup for pure modelling.
The pure setup of Milkshape makes it a more powerful tool for the most part. Is by no means AWESOME, but it is a very good and useful tool for low end development.

You can create professional quality models within it ... however to date i've not really seen any yet.
People have made some nice models, but none i'd consider professional in appearance - but it is capable of it.

Checkout both and decide which you prefer more, could always develop your own in DB some others were going to but have either given up or jump languages

NO WAY!

forget all you fancy progs,,,,
1) open the file using Microsoft Word (preferebly XP version)
2) Run automatic spell checking
3) Devide the text in smaller txt files of 79 lines each
4) Load 'em with notepad
5) Enjoy!

firstly, if you open one of those files and try with notepad and try and save it, you will lose all of the coding and the model will mess up. Secondly, I have used milkshape and i personaly think its a load of crap. I have created many Hi-res models with anim8or and i know that its easier that milkshape. So, dont call me things unless u know the stuff

I have used anim8or for a looooooooong time and it has no where near the capibilities of milkshape. Plus- it cant animate!
