Hi Folks,
been working on another game in my spare time.
This is based on the game Bubblet, also known as Jawbreaker.
I think it comes on most PDA's that run an MS Environment.

Anyway here is a screenshot.
The game is about 60% complete.
It's still missing a little program logic and some sound effects.
Please give me any feedback/comments.

Thanks for looking..

Oh you can download the demo from here http://members.austarmetro.com.au/~jokerz/klapse.zip

It's pretty. Frame looks kind of steampunk to me, which is nice.

Game engine for first phase is pretty much complete.
I'll be adding some addition features to it shortly.

Fairly addictive gameplay too, these puzzle games usually are..

The little green speaker icon when clicked turns audio on and off.
The second arrow is an undo button.
I'm going to need to write my own routines to handle the stack effectively for
this game, I'll most likely include redo as well as undo.

Still need to find a suitable bitmap font to use as well as create some
sort of banner for the top of the page/game.

I haven't updated the demo at this stage.
IF there is enough/any interest, I will update it tonight.

Nice game.

Is starting combination random? Cus I not managed to clear a screen yet. Maybe I just suck at puzzle games

Thanks for the feedback so far...

startng combo is random.

Once I finalise some more stuff, level 1 will only have 3 coloured tiles
Should make it easier to clear.

Higher levels will have more coloured tiles.

in the demo it didn't close up blank space between rows.
Now it does, so it keeps the tiles packed horizontally and vertically.

I intend to put a background picture in the main game area, so as you clear more tiles
you reveal more of the picture. I've seen that used a fair bit in other puzzlers.
I really need to sit down and write a stack this afternoon, but I've been too busy playing around with bitmap fonts..

I'm also contemplating releasing full source code for this when it's done.
Anyone interested?

Well as for selling the game..

it's not really an original idea.

I played the game on my pda and thought it might make a good project to
transfer across. I don't think it's primary role in life is going to be to make me any money. It's more an exercise in recursive programming with a game tagged onto it.
Along with some methods of undo and redo.. (hence the stack)
So I figure it might be a good learning experience for others too.

I intend to 'use' a few ideas from a game called collapse, which adds some variety
to the original jawbreaker concept that the game currently is. So it will kind of end up
being a hybrid of both.

Ok, a new version has been uploaded.

You can grab it from here
http://members.austarmetro.com.au/~jokerz/klapse.zip

The audio can be toggled on and off by clicking the speaker icon.

Play at least three levels, so you get a feel for the increased difficulty with more coloured tiles.

The undo has a built in mechanism to handle 5 levels of undo.
I can change this if you think it's not enough, but I feel it's plenty. I still want to add a redo function as well.
Also added some more bounds checking, so hopefully that will solve problems where you click outside of the field of play.

Still need to work a new bitmap font in there at some stage as well
to handle the score and game events etc.

Please download it and give it a try.
Your feedback is appreciated.

Nice. Couldn't complete 1st level, but then I discoveed the undo button.

I think 5 levels of undo enough.

Only suggestion I got is make a particle explosion for the tiles that dissapear.

Yep I've been thinking about an explosion routine for removed tiles.
I'll have to see what I can figure out.

The game is a lot harder when you have 4 or 5 coloured tiles to try and remove. I don't think even undo would help much there..

So whats the best score anyone had on level 1? I got just over 4K once from memory.

Thanks for the feedback guys.
