I know...

Noone's suggesting anything!

And besides, both me and you have busy times ahead of us, so I can't really organise much soon...

Hey everyone!

i have an UPDATE!

People in melbourne:
around 6

People in Sydney:
around 5

This would probably be more accurate if some people would e-mail me and tell me there prefered location and aslo confirm if they can definitley come or not.

My e-mail is axelman@bigpond.com.au

Well, I can't say that I can definately come, but I think I can. We've got enough frequent flyer miles for me to get there for free, so it doesn't really matter to me where it is

Hrmmm, this thread is dying!
Axelman, put me on that tally (if I'm not already on it). I'm pretty sure I'll be there, as long as the place is in reach.
My preffered location is pretty much anywhere around melbourne....
Yah, I'm also too young to drink, aw well...

so we are looking for an aussie convention, i thought there was a huge lack, (or at least when i first came to db there was) of db users in australia, now it seems that everyone is getting into it, and i havent even seen a copy of db on the shelves anywhere. ANyway my vote is for melbourne, its teh more centralized spot, considering we have tazmans, westerners and people from sydney, melbourne is right in the middle, plus cause im sorta sick its hell of easy cause i live in inner suburbs melbourne like 10 mins tram ride to the city

the only problem i see is where it can be held, and how much it can cost, those interstate can just get cheap airfares from virgin etc, really not that much to travel by plane no more, and it wont take long, only takes 2hrs to get to qld from here. But yeah we would need somewhere in melb to host the event and we would need a proper headcount so we can find a suitable place. And if we could bring our pc's that would be good cause you could set up a little demonstration of whatever game you are working on, it will be like a db e3! anyway yeah my vote is for melbourne, and i strongly suggest we get all the people interested to vote, that way we get a head count and an idea of where to hold it.

Nice idea there with the 'show off your game' thing.
I also got one: If there are enough comps/laptops we could make a sort of mini-compo, that say, goes for 1-2hrs. Something like make a pacman clone, or any other kinda easy to make game. At the end, everyone votes for they're favourite, and the winner gets like $5-$10 from each person competing. (People competing people would also have to hand the money in *before* starting, so they can't just say "Screw you - Im not paying!" after losing ).

So...Is it...Do-able?

well soundliek a good idea, competitors puttin towards the pot. but first we need a head count, axel reckons about 6 in melb 5 in syd, give or take a few poeple that werent counted. so every aussie give a yell and list where you are and if it's possible you can go interstate for a convention plus any other details you think are relevant.

well for one fuedone canberra totally sucks, save for the fire works and adult videos, but where in canberra can we stay, which also brings a question of who would organize a melbourne one if we had it here, anyone from anywhere know of a suitable place to set up a convention, maybe just a scout hall would be the right size, but what about accomodation, would people prefer to sleep on site or would they prefer to pay for accomodation somewhere.

well it depends on teh turnout, (which we'd wanna know before,) it could be an arrive one night and then the next day a full day of convention, maybe throw in a big lunch gathering at some restaurant etc i dunno. but lets get a decent headcount of who can go where first.

Thought I'd bump this.
The convention's been on my mind lately. We gunna go? Or has everyone completely given up?
This would be round July holidays right (the one's which carry the date of my birth), and most likely around Melbourne ?
C'mon people, let's get the plan all together! Any thoughts? Any ideas?

!?

I would like to have the convention, yes, however, it seems that alot of people who would attend are under 18, and that makes it hard to do much...

Is that all you think about ? Deary me. When I was 15, back when dinosaurs ruled the earth, we didn't have Nightclubs - oh no! We had C64's which were used to write and sell games...
